Last Saturday, 07/25/2020, there was a "mostly peaceful" BLM/Antifa protest in the little Texas town of Weatherford. The issue was about a Confederate Soldier statue that has been displayed at the county courthouse for over 100 years. BLM and Antifa were bused in from the DFW Metroplex and many of them were armed. They were met by Texas DPS, local law enforcement and hundreds of armed citizens. The protest was short lived with only a few minor injuries on both sides. The protesters then tried to have the statue, which is owned by the Daughters of the Confederacy, legally removed. The decision was up to the County Commissioners who determined today, 07/30/2020, by a unanimous 5-0 vote to keep the statue. BLM and Antifa have threatened to return in greater numbers on August 8th, 2020.

Nice of them to warn when they're planning on returning.

Don't trust them to not show up days early, in the middle of the night, with only enough people to pull the statue down.

Exactly. There has been a lot of misleading information circulating. Some showed up both Saturday and Sunday but other than three Antifa arrested for vandalizing County property they were peaceful. The misleading info reminds me of the Weather Underground tactic of setting off one bomb and then calling in another 100 bomb threats for the next 6 months - it's a cost effective form of terrorism that costs them nothing but costs their enemies time, money and resources. Just IMHO.

Seems to me if you don't want to be thought of and treated as a traveling troublemaker you ought to avoid going somewhere you don't live and causing trouble.

The fact that you are met by a crowd of people with a different idea of how the day should be spent and who also happen to be armed should be considered a clue.
