Texas official warns of Obama civil war
Compiled by Chronicle Staff
Updated 6:33 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012

A Lubbock County, Texas, judge is asking for a tax increase to hire deputies for the inevitable civil war he believes would follow President Obama's re-election.

The way he puts it, Judge Tom Head wants to prepare for the "worst", which to him means "civil unrest, civil disobedience" and possible "civil war", according to a report from Fox 34 Lubbock

Judge Tom Head and Commissioner Mark Heinrich told the station this week that a 1.7 cent tax increase for the next fiscal year was necessary to prepare for many contingencies, including Obama's re-election. He also mentioned to the station that the county needs a pay increase is needed for the district attorney's office and more funds to pay for more sheriff's office deputies.

"He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the (United Nations), and what is going to happen when that happens?," Head asked the station during a Monday interview. "I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy."

Head also seems to fear the retaliation of such civil unrest.

"Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in U.N. troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say 'you're not coming in here'.

"And the sheriff, I've already asked him, I said 'you gonna back me' he said, 'yeah, I'll back you'. Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there. I want trained, equipped, seasoned veteran officers to back me."

Sounds like a quick scare tactic to raise taxes.  Hopefully that's all it is.  Otherwise, Lubbock County needs to check their judges for missing marbles.

The County Commissioner and the County Sheriff are crazy too? This is not about if they are right or wrong. This is about how deeply divided our Nation is. Lubbock County is not a hick place. Over a quarter million Texans live there.

I have a minor in history. My main core of study was American military conflict, specifically WW2 and the Civil War.
We have quite literally never been as ideologically divided as we are today, I believe that the only reason there hasn't been a solid shooting match in our country yet is because we are geographically separate. Whereas for example prior to the civil war, folks with homogenous world views lived more or less together today we have a blended ideological landscape so that one idea hasn't yet got to a critical mass and started blasting things yet.

I would say that anyone who DOESN'T think we are on a collision course with war at some point here possibly even within our lifetimes hasn't been reading their history very well. You just can't have people who as large groups think and believe so VERY differently abide peaceably forever. Its not just the right who mutters about war, the left has been talking about it since the 30s at least and various splinter groups of the left like the Weather Underground, KKK and Black Panthers have been practicing it to one degree or another for decades if not centuries. Its the natural course of human history, despite our technological advancements people haven't changed in the past 100 or 200 years, the atrocities of Communism in the 20th century alone should prove that out. No, war in one way or another is probably inevitable the question is, will it be open war like we saw in the 20th century or will it be a more subtle kind?

All that being said, I think its retarded to freaking talk about it to a reporter especially if your a public official, though if your going to say stuff like he did Texas is totally the place you can get away with it.

    my two copper anyway.

G'head and secede.  I'll laugh when Mexico then takes all of Texas that it's infiltrated, and all you've got is a sliver of land that was the reason Mexico became a First World Nation.

One good friend from Texas told me about the stench of urine from Mexican illegal immigrants whizzing on the Alamo and laughing about how La Raza had finally won it back.

Tell judge-boy that he and his type did a fine job protecting the porous hunk of mesh that is the border.

The judge is being stupid and/or crazy, that's pretty much a given.

Have you ever been to Mexico? Or Texas?

There's lots of Mexicans in Texas, but I don't think there's anyone with the power and inclination to annex it as a part of Mexico. If there were, they'd be busy making Mexico into a better place instead.

You mean to tell me that if Obama won a second term and began using his (added flexibility) to enact his grand socialist dream, you would not join a movement to seced, or fight for your rights? This whole idea is spreading like wild fire across the country because our Nation IS so divided. And that is Obama's fault. He has alienated the Military, and just about everyone else including a lot of people who put him in office.

If enough western states did it, they could make a viable country with easy. All of the energy resources an industry in the region would make for a very profitable country. And there is already an armed and equipped Army to do so, the National Guard. People forget that the NG belongs to the governor of the state, not the US Army. And if Big Army came to get their property back I think they would find people very resistant to the idea.

With TX and western states refining more than 3/4 of the countries oil (a number gotten from an Oil Exec at Sinclair, my father) the feds would have a real hard time driving to the battle front after a very short time.

It could be done, and a viable country formed out of it. There are several high profile lawyers and state officials here in Utah looking at this very thing, and I am sure there are in other western states as well.

618,000 killed in the last Civil War.  618,000 out of 31.5 million.

2012 population - 312,800,000.  Six million killed outright in the "new" Civil War CERTAIN to be started by an atheist/Muslim who follows a renegade Catholic priest.

Oh, and PvtPyle, don't try to do anything other than preach to the choir here about Obama's ironclad, merciless tyranny.  Lord knows, you can't try to influence the vote in your part of the country.  Nah, let's skip civil debate, due process of government, the efforts of the VERY RIGHT House of Representatives, and get right to the bullet box.  Why wait?

     :facepalm

Every time I think the political bullcrap diatribes on either side might be coming back to normal, all of a sudden, people forget the horror and suffering caused by the last Civil War.  "I'm sure this time there won't be an expansion to house-to-house fighting and situations like in Iraq where noncombatants in cities either died or mass exodused abandonning their homes in the path of complete and utter murder."

That's not what I am saying at all. But IF he were to enact the Exec Orders and suspend the rights of the citizens and states, then there really isn't much choice but to fight. Or live as a serf.

Having seen what war does to a country and it's citizens first hand in AFG and Cambodia, I am not a fan of it. But it also doesn't scare me on a personal level. However, it terrifies me because I have children and loved ones. I have no illusions as to how brutal it would be and the massive amounts of death that we would see in this country. But given the choice of that over living under that kind of tyranny, I would not choose to live peacefully. Obama has shown repeatedly that he has no respect or use for due process in this country. Heaven knows what he will do if he wins again.

So don't talk down to me like I haven't seen first hand what happens in an event like that. I do not want it for myself or my children. So you can keep your self righteous BS. It is the final option to any free people, and sometimes the powers that be need to be reminded of it.

I'm not saying that YOU are going for this.  I was referring more to that judge.

And I'm more standing by my belief that he's not Marxist, he's a greedy, bent sumb____ like all Chicago politicians, and peddling the bulls___ flavor du jour.  Engaging in illicit terrorist murders in Pakistan to appeal to the "strong on defense" crowd, and wagging leftist pablum before his party.

Think of these kinds of statements from political and community "leaders" as a first gentle shove back against the federal government. This is a growing movement in the US, because of the crap coming our of DC. Maybe, just maybe if the powers that be think there is enough people that feel this way then they will slow down their power grab. If not, I guess it will be time for people to put their money where their mouth is.

Over the last 40+ years I have watched the country I was raised to know and believe in be dismantled from within. Those occasional power grabs that went on behind closed doors, the ones that took away personal freedoms and states rights are now business as usual and done right in our faces. When people challenge those acts through the system, the government bullies and threatens the judges. Luckily, there have been some judges that said get bent, like the injunction against the NDAA this week.

I have watched my dad loose hundreds of thousands of dollars from the retirement he built, and some of his friends even more than that. Because of the crap coming out of DC and wall street. I have seen the country go from where we were a people that praised personal accomplishment and individual exceptional-ism to now be considered bad or down right evil. I have seen us go from a country where people wanted to use the freedoms that this country gave to rise on their own merits and hard work to becoming a country of financial slaves and bums wanting their next hand out. We didn't use those rights to build our own destiny, in mass and so we have lost many of them and the rest are out dated concepts to our society as a whole.

Sure this country beats the hell out of the runner up, but it is still crap. If something like this were to happen, we are sending the kids in the family to live with friends in Mexico, who actually live much freer than we do here in many cases. I for one won't shed a tear to see what is left of this country destroy itself. We as a people deserve it for our apathy and allowing our federal government do this to us. I would happily drive through the ruins of cities like LA, NYC, DC and see the detestation that they have wrought on themselves. I've seen it all before overseas, And those people I didn't generally hold in utter disdain and contempt, unlike most people in this country.

I will continue to do my civic duty and vote. I will send my paltry donations to the candidate that I think is the least evil and won't screw us over as badly as the others, but they all will. I will continue to do my part to slow down the decline of this nation and hopefully will be dead before it gets to that point. But I won't cry about it. I won't miss it. I just don't give a crap about it anymore. The country I was raised to believe in is for the most part, dead.

They wouldn't "be allowed" to repel the USG either...and since it was the USG that hasn't allowed them to repel the southern border, then it shows that they've already folded like Origami, at least once, due to pressure from the USG....... a pattern has developed here.
