North Texas gas shortage
« on: September 01, 2017, 10:49:15 am »
A lot of gas stations are out of gas here and the ones that have gas have long lines. Is this just a North Texas problem or are other parts of the country experiencing the same thing?

Gas up here in Illinois jumped from $2.25 to $2.50 over the last week

IllinoisThere’s a story about a turtle and a scorpion. Scorpion is stranded on a river bank. Turtle sees this and asks Scorpion to get on his back and he’ll take him across the river. Scorpion gets on Turtle’s back and they go into the river. When they’re about halfway across, Scorpion stings Turtle. As Turtle is sinking, knowing they’re both going to die, he asks Scorpion "Why did you sting me, we’re both going to die?" and Scorpion says "It’s not my fault; it’s what I am."

Gas prices have gone up somewhat in the Pittsburgh area over the last week, but they fluctuate all the time around here so I'm not sure how much of the increase is Harvey-related.

Point.  I kinda note when they're going up and down, but ya gotta pay what ya gotta pay when the vehicle is thirsty.

Locally, Costco around here is usually cheapest, for credit anyway.  ARCO is often a few cents cheaper, but they're cash only.

Currently Costco is $2.73 per gallon, which is what Fred Meyer (a division of Kroeger) was last night when I went past.  Now, Freddy's has raised their price 2 cents since then.

In crisis. Only one station has premium left at all. Our stores are continuing to dwindle and I hope that my vehicle can make it the next week or two. I might have to start walking to school.

Gas was about $2.65 here when I filled up today so it has gone up. No one is out though. But I am a long way from TX so I don't expect the pipe line problems there to cause a shortage of gas here just a price increase.

It went up about .45 earlier this week.  Fortunately, we filled everything up beforehand.

Prices are going up but no noticeable shortages yet.  I'm not going below half a tank before filling it though in case that changes.

I've always had that rule regardless. It's just a safety thing incase I need to drive. I consider it to be no different than locking the doors to my home or any other security measure.

Agreed but especially important when shortages are possible.  I should probably fill my jerry cans as well .  .  .   :hmm.

The highest price I've seen here was reported by local news: $6.99 per gallon.

    Yes.   ;)

A liter of bottled water is actually more expensive here than a liter of gasoline.

    Yes.   ;)
Per Google, the three smallest ME cesspools, K, Q and B, are all about $1/gallon, so close enough.  I wouldn't want to live in any of them. :coffee

Depending upon where that liter is purchased, it is also more expensive than a liter of gasoline here.  :neener

Well, gas was $2.09 last week, and today it was $2.54.  Driving up to Tennessee, I saw anywhere from $2.39 - $2.84.  In some places, it was actually higher than low-sulfur diesel!

I live about 2 hours NNE of Houston.  Got about 12-16" of rain, depending on where in the county you were counting.

Gas is up about $0.25 over the last week.  No shortages that I know of, although we did have stations running out right before the storm hit, during, and a day or two after.

Heck, I saw a delivery truck unloading at the Stripes station ($2.39/gal) on my way home this morning.

No shortages here, but the price has jumped $0.12-0.15 in the last week.  Alaska isn't even in the same supply chain as the rest of the country.

I'm in Panama City and no shortage YET, but prices have jumped about 30 cents up since last week. With the possibility of Irma hitting somewhere in the gulf coast, people are already freaking out here about stocking up. It's been a long time since the Florida panhandle has gotten hit so our turn might be next. We'll see.

It would absolutely suck if it plowed over the panhandle and went straight for Texas...
