Moore OK Tornado
« on: May 22, 2013, 02:52:57 pm »
I have been at the Draper water treatment plant along with all the other physically capable OK water board folks trying to clear debris and get the water treatment for the area back to potable water access. It was a horribly powerful tornado. Doppler radar said some of the debris was clocked at over 340+ MPH. It was much slower moving than the 1999 May 3rd tornado, and it has caused massive damage but less deaths thankfully.

9 children were lost at an elementary school that was directly in the path of the tornado. My heart goes out to the parents.

My wife has family in Del City, everyone is okay. They were there for the '99 as well, front row seat.

Water is back up. I am out testing water in the neighborhoods now. It looks like someone took a 1.5 mile wide lawnmower over this area. Tents are out everywhere.

We fished a stuffed bear out of one of the sediment tanks last night. That really put a face on the debris. It isn't just random debris. It is someone's home.
