Marlin Customer Service vs Mossberg Customer Service
« on: March 16, 2009, 12:38:02 pm »
This is just me ranting... :cuss

Called Marlin today regarding a model 60 that is my middle boys plinker.  The absolute worst service I have experienced in a long while in any industry.  I followed the phone maze to the service dept, which is fine.  I waited on hold for 39 minutes (work phone displays that), starting to get aggravated.  Transfered to 3 different people when I finally get someone who reads to me a possible solution and when it doesn't work tells me she has no other solutions and just hangs up.  Now I'm pissed.  They are getting the rifle back for repair and a rather frank letter regarding their service. I'm not sitting on hold again.

Mossberg 590.  I had the safety lock up on me and being the expert weapon repair person I am promptly attempted a field repair with nothing more than my trusty ZT301.  Long story short called Mossberg, got right through.  They apologized I had any issue with the shotgun and had me return it.  They not only replaced the safety but a couple other items I can't remember and shipped it back. no charge for any of it.  That's service.  My only issue I can't seem to get the normal 9 rounds in it, only 6.

Thanks for listening, I'm here all week.

I sure know what you mean.

Similar frustration except it was Rossi vs. Springfield Armory customer service.  My Rossi R462 (6 shot 357 snubbie) broke after 50 rounds.  The "warranty repair" was free, but shipping wasn't.  The same part broke 3 times, the last time only 6 rounds since the 2nd repair.  I spent half as much shipping that POS back to the factory for "free repairs" as I did buying it.

As opposed to Springfield Armory.  I bought a NIB GI model 1911 from a guy, and the hammer strut broke after 500 rounds.  Called their customer service, the CS lady put a technician on the line who diagnosed the problem.  Seeing as how I wasn't the original owner, I was really tickled when they said that this would be a warranty repair, and they would pay shipping both ways.  Ten minutes after that they emailed me the Fedex shipping labels, and I sent it off that day.  They also re-reamed the chamber and polished the feedramp while it was there.

Guess which company I buy from these days?  SA is A-OK by me.

    Badkarma,

Sounds like they might have added a magazine plug to limit your capacity. Have you looked into the magazine tube to see if there is an obstruction?

Don't know why they'd do that with a shotgun like a 590, but that's all I can think of.
