I sure know what you mean.
Similar frustration except it was Rossi vs. Springfield Armory customer service. My Rossi R462 (6 shot 357 snubbie) broke after 50 rounds. The "warranty repair" was free, but shipping wasn't. The same part broke 3 times, the last time only 6 rounds since the 2nd repair. I spent half as much shipping that POS back to the factory for "free repairs" as I did buying it.
As opposed to Springfield Armory. I bought a NIB GI model 1911 from a guy, and the hammer strut broke after 500 rounds. Called their customer service, the CS lady put a technician on the line who diagnosed the problem. Seeing as how I wasn't the original owner, I was really tickled when they said that this would be a warranty repair, and they would pay shipping both ways. Ten minutes after that they emailed me the Fedex shipping labels, and I sent it off that day. They also re-reamed the chamber and polished the feedramp while it was there.
Guess which company I buy from these days? SA is A-OK by me.
