IED's in NJ and NYC
« on: September 18, 2016, 03:34:59 am »
A Marine Corps themed 5k in NJ was hit but thankfully before the race started. Several other IED's were found around the town. Then an IED went off in Manhattan and a second was found nearby. Read here:

Said it before, say it again:   The US has been blessed to not have experienced these types of attacks for years.

That times over.    As sad as it sounds, I believe in the next decade we're going to have to start resembling Israel or any of the other high-risk locations around the world.

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

    And then there was this:

Bad guy with a knife stopped by a good guy with a gun.  Only thing better would have been if the off duty cop had been a private citizen with a permit.  Of course, then we probably would never have heard of it.

Agreed. Why bother with reporting facts when there are politically driven narratives to maintain?  :coffee

I have a cousin who lives in Manhattan. Not 100% sure where, but I think she's either in or close to Chelsea. I just heard from her: she's fine. Really scared, but fine.

And use said reasons to restrict civil rights.     The whole "not letting a good crisis go to waste" comes to mind.

If you honestly expect that we will start hardening up like Israel, that is going to require quite a bit of civil rights violations.  Checkpoints with car searches, metal detectors and armed security on every building of value, over the top criminal profiling, and curfews.  There is a lot more to it than just everyone 18-21 walking around with a slung rifle.

True, to a point.  I was speaking more of "secondary" type hardening.      Buildings and businesses built with locking down rather than aesthetics,etc.etc.'

Immigration control and border protection would be the next logical step but that's none of my business  :coffee

I agree and I'm not usually in agreement with most conspiracy theories but if it quacks like a duck, and it has so often in the past 8 years, what else are we supposed to believe. Gadiantons, pure and simple.
