After a full days contemplation a couple things come to mind that lift my mood considerably:

1.-  Pelosi and Reids little speech last night about a "mandate"  seems to have gotten little, if any, traction from what I've seen so far.  Good.  Even the media knows it was a close call.

2.-(I believe others have mentioned this in other threads)-  Now he's got to back up his mouth with action.  This will take an OBSCENE amount of money.  Folks, the money just ain't there.  He's got just one way to get it, and he'd have to cut so deep into personal incomes that I doubt even his biggest cheerleaders would be able to take it.

I believe our boy has written a check with his alligator mouth that his tadpole butt won't be able to cash.   ;D

This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty. . . . The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction- St. George Tucker, Blackstone's Commentaries

I'm probably not adding much to this thread by posting this, but my wife told me I had to (and it's fairly funny)...

So, I'm pretty down in the mouth about the outcome of the elections.  The wife and I go to bed...I decide that some quality nekkid time would lift my spirits (we're also trying to have a child, so why not).  I start trying to put my smoothest moves on, and she says, "Ain't happening tonight buster.  I couldn't stand to have a child that was conceived on the same day that Obama got elected."  Normally, I get grouchy about being turned down, but all I could do was stop and think, "that has got to be the BEST excuse a woman has ever given for not having sex!"

Anyhoo, enough of my rambling.  I don't think it can be put any better than as GeorgeHill wrote on his blog:

    Quote
What we need to do: We can not give up the fight. This was a battle, but the war rages on. A set back, not a defeat. Conservatives will not roll over and we have to FORCE those [sissies] in Congress that call themselves Republicans to knock off with the "Moderate" [bovine byproduct] and to start being conservative. Bill Clinton got in office, and two years later we took the House and the Senate. We should plan on that again two years from now. This means we have to get the Republican Party to [de-fornicate] themselves, and get new candidates ready to stand up.

I feel somber today knowing that a majority of the USA are morons.

Dont give them the satisfaction of knowing they are beating us down...continue to fight the good fight and not lose focus.

Things happen for a reason...maybe an epic fail from the dems will shut their pie holes up

Don't feel bad... I've been cussing off-line all day.  That's why I chopped a cord of wood.  Knee feeling better, so I went out and took out my frustrations on the wood pile.   I actually had to take a file to my axe and resharpen it.

A forest needs a fire every once in a while to prosper.

This election has got to be a turnaround for conservatives.

We can't win by moving toward the middle...acting like we're Democrats.

It took Jimmy Carter and his failures to give us Ronald Reagan.

We need to educate all Americans on the Constitution.

We knew all along...America is NOT a bigoted country.

Let's pray that President Obama takes this blessing and governs well.

There is nothing like good ol' hard work.  But I think that I will need some range therapy this weekend.

Employ some perspective. Don't give up, use the disappointment to fuel renewed efforts to steer this country in the right direction.

I don't feel giving up or allowing complacency to set in is an option for me. There are a few reasons for this outlook, two of which are below.

    1.   I have an 18 year old son who is making his way into the adult world of this society. It is my responsibility to continue fighting for those things that have made this country so great over years, so that he and his future family may be able to enjoy those same things. I owe my son and future generations more than just the cursory effort it took to fill out my ballot for someone other than Obama, or the cursory effort to send a check to the NRA. My son deserves more from me than just rolling over and giving up or scaling back when the fight gets tough, regardless of whether the fight is in the political arena or elsewhere.

    2.   While I am not associated with the military, I am immensely appreciative and grateful for the men and women in U.S. armed forces. I am very well aware of how this great country came to be and how its attributes have been maintained and protected over all these years. The members of our armed forces have made the great sacrifices, and many of them have paid the ultimate sacrifice to see that our country retains those beliefs and values that has made it the envy of the world. Those men and women of the U.S. armed forces deserve more from me than just rolling over or scaling back when the fight in the political arena becomes difficult. The U.S. military never runs from a fight, and neither should those of us concerned citizens of America. It doesn't matter if the battle is in the political arena or on the physical battlefield, the concept is the same.

Disappointed in the results of the election? Yes, absolutely. Giving up or scaling back? No, that is not an option.

I wasn't sick to my stomach, but I do think I  might have suffered an aneurysm Tuesday night. Like my fleeting 401k I have turned this election into a positive. The bargain basement price of stock has given me an opportunity to invest when I feel the bottom has been reached in the market.

In regards to the election: We are in for a rough ride but that is a good thing. How can this be? Look at it this way. The Dem's have a Trifecta of power. They can do nothing but further the economic slump with their failed policies, look at the DOW in the last two days as example of their influence on the economy. If the economy continues to falter, who can be blamed but those in power? And there is no doubt that they are in power now.(I know that the Dem's have been in control of congress for the last two years, but MSM fails to acknowledge this and continue to blame Bush for the depression caused by the Dem's.) If my theory holds true, Democrats will be the catchers mitt for the backlash, and mid-term elections should bring about a swing to the right. This is the positive, or, so I hope.

Yes, he does seem like the proverbial dog that caught the car.  Now what do I do with it?

Congratulations, Barry!  You're the President!  But there's no time to go to Disneyland.  You've inherited possibly the worst economy since the Great Depression.  Unemployment levels are already reaching 1982 heights and the full effects haven't even been seen yet.

Those rust-belters that elected you are about to get corncobbed as consumer spending collapses and factories close.  Hell, not even the Chinese can sell to Americans right now.

The whole card check issue seems kind of silly when those union activists don't even have jobs!

The Keynesian model of using public spending to get out of a recession is going to run into the ugly fact that the money tree has just shed its leaves.  We have already committed to massive debt commitments that we may or may not be able to keep.  Forget about deficit-spending our way out of this.  And somebody explain to Nancy that we don't have another $700 billion to spend on a second stimulus package!

Do you think the foreclosure situation is bad?  That was with unemployment under six percent!  Just wait until we get to eight or nine percent.  God forbid we see double digits.

The only thing that will stop this is a massive tide of pro-business legislation and tax reform that would make even Ronaldus Magnus blink in surprise.

Being POTUS right now is kind of like being the captain of the Titanic.
Get these bodies together...five or six of 'em, all laid out on the front of our ship. Put Book front and center, he's our friend and we should honor him. Kaylee, find that kid who's taking a dirt nap with baby Jesus, we need a hood ornament.
