That's a bad idea anywhere.  I watched my nephew doing that at his house and he walked into a table, got overbalanced, overcorrected and promptly went a** over teacup.  Never dropped the phone, though.    :facepalm

You might lose your phone...  :shocked

Why didn't he use the shotgun to get his cell phone back? Then he'd have had both a shotgun AND his phone? I'd call that a win-win. Hell he could have taken the whip too.

    Hat trick win...

Can you imagine the robbers would probably call the police then

If you could pull that off I wonder if you could convince a judge to let you keep the shotgun and car.

Firearms are ranged weapons...so use them at a range longer than your opponent's arms. It's still pretty hard to miss from 5 feet away.

I'm not convinced the gun was loaded. I feel like even a punk from the hood knows his gun should be loaded beforw he initiates a robery, and therefore his pumping he action while he walked up was probably "robbery theater".

Not that you can rely on such an assessment in he moment.

Also, if you just tried to rob a guy who isn't afraid to fight a man with a gun, and then gave him your LOADED gun, would you go back and give him another chance to shoot you?

Could be why he politely asked for his gun back. He knew it wasn't loaded, so he wasn't afraid to approach his mark.

Happens ALL the time. I especially love it when they pick a fight, lose and then try to charge the winner/intended victim. I always ask, "I thought you were some kind of gangbanger badass and you want to run to The Man to handle your problems? Bwahahahaha! Come on Susie, I'll call a magistrate." I've had several of THEIR MOTHERS call and complain. Last week we had our most prolific thief get caught breaking into a couple of good ol' boys' truck and he carried an ass whippin' for his break in and then had the gall to try and charge the pair. Again, he was just laughed at by us and the magistrate.

That should be the punishment for ALL robbery.
    PUBLIC Asswhooping!
Make it legal to bet on how long the punks last getting their asses handed to them by the chosen delegates of the people they robbed.
So who would be on your short list of asskickers to have at your  request to kick some ass?

    Jet Li
    Chow Yun Phat
Ronnie "Rotten" Vandermotten (My old Tae Kwon Do Master)
    Hell, I'd do it myself!
    Legal asskicking...oh yeah!
Did I mention they get to have their hands and legs cuffed to a pole, you can't hit their heads, but everything else is fair game.
You get 2 minutes and that's it.
Then on to the next victim's delegate.

    I know I know...cruel and unusual punishment.
Not really cruel if they get this as their debt payment to society or go to a dark cell for one year solitary.

Nah.  .   .  I'm thinking more along the lines of forced restitution.    You don't get to go hang out with other criminals marking time and honing your "skills".    You get to go bust your a**  for twelve hours a day doing whatever you are assigned to do until the fruits of your labor have restored not only that which you stole but the costs incurred for seeing justice done.   You want to get tattoos and lift weights?   Do it on your own time.    Not feeling well?   The doctor will see you after work ( which you will also pay for ).   Commit a capital crime?   There's no such thing as "cruel and unusual punishment".  That's what the victim(s) and their families go through - your fate will be decided by negotiations between the prosecuting authority and the victim(s) and or their survivors.
