Author and activist Mark Dice on Monday released what may very well be the most depressing “man on the street” video for 2013 (possibly beating “College Kids Who Don’t Know U.S. History”).

In Dice’s new video, he successfully encourages a group of California beachgoers to sign a petition calling for the repeal the Bill of Rights.

You know, to help President Barack Obama streamline government and all that.

:facepalm.  I really can't say I'm surprised though.

I'm gonna quietly point out I could probably convince some staunch Republican's or Tea Party members to sign a petition to at least repeal the 1st Amendment, and if I worked at it, the rest of the BoR as well (given the well publicized statements regarding how women shouldn't be allowed to vote). :coffee

I'm gonna quietly point out ...

And I will quietly point out that it has pretty much already happened, r.e. separation of church and state, overzealous political persecution of whistleblowers, improper search and seizure, warrantless snooping, guilty until you prove your own innocence, "gun free" zones, institutionalized prosecutorial misconduct, "show me your papers" laws, hyper-militarization of the police force, etc.  :(

and don't even get me started on those fargin' red light/speed trap cameras...  aarrgh!

In the end it seems most Republicans/Democrats these days want unquestionable power and authority especially at the expense of the people.

Wouldn't matter to the people that signed it.  They probably can't read anyway.

Fortunately I had a public high school teacher who encouraged learning, and thinking, what a novel idea in education.  He had tenure so the district could not fire him, they just made his job hell until he retired.
He introduced me to P. J. O'Rourke, a fantastic commentator on our government.  His latest book is something like "Don't Vote it only encourages the Ass----".  My favorite of his is the explanation of how Congress works, title is Parliament of Whores.

Every public school has some that do their part to actually encourage thinking, as opposed to just learning. I still remember the two in mine that must have been such pains in the butt to the administration. One, accidentally, introduced me to my future wife. Over a gun. ;)

Oh, they can read. It's just that they don't understand what they are reading.
