Great Mindset, watch the video

LOUISIANA OFF-DUTY OFFICER SHOOTOUT - VIDEO

Three armed robbers meet preparation, mindset and one skinny cop working an off duty security job.  Guess who wins.

He was thinking the whole time.  Could have used cover better, but he was agressively in the fight and probabily hadn't trained to take cover.

Glad to see that he survived.  I hope he didn't suffer negative consequences for his actions.

The video of the events probably saved him from undue prosecution.

Why would he face any sort of prosecution? One, he is a cop attempting to stop a robberty. Two, the suspect he killed had a gun in his face. The officer just happened to be better and faster than the badguy. Looks like a clean shoot all the way around.

There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. - Ayn Rand

Nice parry of the gun away from him and a contact shot.  Action beats reaction!

I think he'd done some what iffing prior to this event.  Nice scan of the room before leaving the back room.

Nice and clean.  I'd be surprised if he even faces a civil suit with that video.

If you're going to be sitting in a back room monitoring video cameras, why not have a long gun handy?

yes, definately a case of action beats reaction

However, i got to think he would have been better off with his gun drawn and at some 'ready to shoot' position.  I automatically thought of holding it all the way back like this, but maybe more at belt height rather than bra height

I also found it very interesting that he estimated the van to be 75 yards away....it looked more like 15 yards away.  75 yards is a LONG way especially with a handgun.

No matter how far that vehicle was, that cop's still a badass.

In the video, it looks like the action of the bad guy's gun was cycling as the cop parried it away.  Am I just hallucinating or was he just milliseconds away from taking a round?
