GOP Benghazin Report
« on: April 23, 2013, 06:25:51 pm »
New report started circulating today, a summary of several investigations.

Basically:

Quote
According to the report's summary:

--Reductions of security levels prior to the attacks in Benghazi were approved at the highest levels of the State Department, up to and including Secretary Clinton. This fact contradicts her testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on January 23, 2013;

--In the days following the attacks, White House and senior State Department officials altered accurate talking points drafted by the Intelligence Community in order to protect the State Department; and

--Contrary to Administration rhetoric, the talking points were not edited to protect classified information. Concern for classified information is never mentioned in email traffic among senior Administration officials.

The report says Clinton had been informed of the deteriorating security situation in Benghazi but signed off on cuts anyway. The conclusions are at odds with Clinton's testimony that she did not personally read the cables about the security situation in Benghazi.

    Frankly I'm not surprised by the event that it went down the way that it did, and that the politics acted as they did.  I'm not surprised by this report, lets be clear, were any of us expecting to see the Republicans to come out with a report praising the handling of the situation?  No, so its another miserable clusterfluff that ends in American blood being spilt and the politicians playing games at home.  I am still upset that the news media played this and allowed Obama a free pass on this and he was able to skate on it during the election.  I'm not sure it would have cost him the election, but there should have been a cost.  And I fear how often we will see these things happen as the beauracracy becomes more and more entrenched.

    Vince Flynn first broached the subject in his excellent novel "Term Limits" when he stated that our own politicians are more of a threat to us than rogue foreign leaders and terrorists. We are way past that point.
