Canada closes Iranian Embassy and ejects Iranian diplomats

I'll admit that I'm a little surprised by this turn of events.  Canada closes it's embassy in Iran and gives Iranian diplomats in Canada five days to wrap things up and GTFO.

Moreover, this at a time when the PM is in Russia talking to Putin about Syria and Iran at an APEC meeting (Syria and Iran are not APEC members).

I can't help but think that this is part of a larger game being played out, especially in light of rumored forthcoming Israeli strikes against the Iranian nuclear program.

I mention this because I think that sometimes what's happening internationally gets lost in the election furor in the states, especially with the conventions this month.

    Since posting this, there have been several news stories suggesting what I had suspected:  That the Foreign Affairs department and PMO are acting as a proxy to send a message to Iran and Russia.

    On CBC's the National, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu as much as confirms that this is a proxy move to put pressure on the US to take action on Iran.

    I wasn't surprised when I heard the news that Canada closed its embasy over there. If I was running a country about now I would consider pulling anything and everything I had in Iran out just for the simple fact that Iseral is running out of patince and the place could very well get bombed soon. What did surprise me was when I heard they were kicking the Iranian's out of their embasy in Canada. That one took me by surprise. I also think that this is just one piece of a much bigger game being played out. I just hope this game doesn't turn into WW3.
