There is a threat of someone bombing New York's street or subway system, so what do they do? Bring out the police and set up check points, and bring New York's already crowded streets to a standstill. Someone with a car bomb simply has to get stuck near one of these bottle necks to ensure a high body count.

There has to be a better way to address something like this.

PC posturing to avoid panic. Just a public display of doing something. I would suppose there's more going on outside the public eye than we know though.

Do the police ever announce ongoing undercover operations? Do they ever announce the name of those giving tips BEFORE a trial or even before capture?
