It was way too hot to go to an outdoor range with the M-1 Garand, so I packed up a WWII M1 Cabine, a modern 1911 (kind of a grandson to a WWII 1911) and a Buckmark 22 pistol (just for fun).
What I rediscovered: The M1 Carbine has almost no recoil to speak of, is accurate enough at 25 yards to put all the shots in the bullseye, and I need better sights on it than the military sights for my aging eyes.
My 1911 has a much better trigger on it than the plastic framed 9mm pistols I've been shooting lately, and more recoil. It was worked on by a gunsmith back in Florida, and it seems to read my mind. When you to go off.
Lastly, remember to bring spare mags for the 22.
