Pocket Dump
« on: January 20, 2019, 09:23:58 pm »
I know that we have done it before, but it seems like time to do another thread on what we really carry around with us on a regular basis.  If I remember there was one here before, but I could not find it on a cursory search, and it was several years ago and life changes.

I am most commonly carrying my P365 with 10 rd flush fit mag in an Adams Texas rig with a 12 rd reload in my off side front pocket.  Still not carrying everyday, just when I am on the home side of the water.  I do carry two Kershaw's, one Streamlight, a Zippo, spare Bic's, and a head light as well as keys almost every day.  Pic of my pockets dump in a bit.

That was what was in my pocket when I changed pants this morning to head to Sunday lunch at my parents house.  I sometimes carry a CR 123 Streamlight rather than the single AA powered model shown, but have been having a hard time finding reasonably priced 123's lately.  Usually I only carry two out of the three knives shown, but they rotate which, and sometimes all three end up in my pockets.  This pocket dump includes pants, t-shirt, and the insulated shirt I have been wearing as a jacket this winter.  Not shown is the gloves that ride in the pockets of my outer coat that lives either in my truck or bag I am living/working out of.

Yes.  I forgot all about it.  Now that I have a truck with interior lights that work, I have not had to use it in almost a year.

Important things that I carry every day and everywhere are my Ipod, and my pocket brain with writing device.  I might not have the ear buds in, and might not have the device playing even when the ear buds are in, it is always in my pocket.  I have books playing almost 24/7, especially when I am sleeping.

Mine is pretty normal Old 5in. 1911 on my right hip in an Overpass rig, Texas IWB mag carrier, gerber multitool in the front pouch and mag in the rear. Kershaw Cryo 2 clipped on my right pocket and bic in my right pocket. Phone left pocket, wallet rear right. Oh and ecig in the breast pocket of my button up shirt.

That's pretty much the normal for me unless I'm going somewhere town or woods then I change things up accordingly;)

Well, I currently live in Germany, so I'm pretty limited. All I currently have in my pocket are my car/office keys, phone, pen and marker, notebook, reading glasses and sunglasses, and my Benchmade Auto. That Benchmade is actually illegal here also, but it's the only weapon I actually carry, so too bad.

What kind of holster are you using?  Mag holster, or pocket carry on spare mag?

I use a cheap kydex mag holster on my left side for the extra magazine, and I carry in a DeSantis OWB thumb break during winter. I carry in a CrossBreed Supertuck during summer when I go IWB to the office.

Worse.  I carried a Witness for several years.  It is HEAVY.  A G20 was a revelation in comfort and pants staying up by comparison.

So, yeah, I wanna know what rig your using as well!

Gents, I'm afraid this is probably going to be a great disappointment,
I'm carrying in a <probably> cheap holster on a cheap belt with cheap suspenders (galluses, actually).
I may have mentioned in other posts that I spent most of the last 15 years overseas, and during that time my firearms sat in various places (storage units, finally at my father's until he passed last year).
When I finally decided to end my reign of terror tenure in the middle east and try life stateside once again after my father had passed, aside from a couple of kydex rigs for glocks, I had no holsters.
Dad, on the other hand, had the usual box-o-holsters amongst his things and I appropriated this psuedo-Yaqui style holster for the simple reason that it will fit my 10mm Witness.
Likewise some may recall that I was looking for a holster to use with suspenders.   I figured WTHN, and just ran with the belt and suspenders set up (cue scene from Once Upon a Time In the West)<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VuWzeoIr7J4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Anyways, here's what I've been using the last few months while I ponder options.
    Pardon the remodeling debris.
It sits alright, but I wouldn't want to try a 100m dash unless I was holding it in the holster.

<If a mod could help out with the pics, et al, it would be appreciated>

It's a leather holster, so it can't be that cheap  :shrug .

Different things work for all of us.  I am not judging.  I am just curious about what works or not for others.  I own and carry, usually open carry, a bunch of semi-odd ball stuff.  So I am always curious about what others use for holsters.  I had a fairly long conversation last week with my prefer preferred gun pusher about how he planned to carry his P365 when he moves back to the lower 48.  Which devolved into a conversation about pocket crap, flashlights, etc.. Which led directly to this post.

After closer inspection, I just now realised you carry a little angle light with you  :thumbup1 .

Sparked interest due to the thread I made not long ago.

I'm still carrying a Glock 19, Car keys (with pepper spray),  Victorinox farmer, coldsteel AK-47, a knife ranch fixed blade, wallet, money clip, and sometimes a BUG. That's it. Nothing exciting, but can post a picture later if needed.

Yes, it's the one I suggested to you in that thread.

BTW....I don't see the pictures I posted.  Does the board hide photos from the poster, or did I foul it up? :-[

I don't see any photo's on the post about the holster.  There is a hyper link, but it goes no where for me.  I have always uploaded photos as attachments, not tried to place them in the text.  So I don't know if you fouled up or not.

I too carrried my Witness in a cheap holster with a cheap belt.  The lack of good holster choices was a driver to a different platform.  I still like shooting my Witness best of all the handguns I own in 10mm

I get the hassle of finding a holster for the iron,  but I don't quite get giving up carrying the better handgun due to lack of accessories. I'd Mexican carry the Witness over another handgun in a custom rig.  :shrug
