He was just using an example of employing the economics of scale for illustration purposes.   :coffee   Chill out, homes.   :cool

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.
Ray Chapman, used to say that the 125-grain Magnum load’s almost magical stopping power was the only reason to load .357 instead of .38 Special +P ammunition into a fighting revolver chambered for the Magnum round. I agree. - Massad Ayoob

Blindsight by Peter Watts is a terrific book that deals with evolution and consciousness. It’s not a very chipper book, but it makes you think.

You have a race of organisms that achieved interstellar travel, and while very intelligent and physically adaptable, they are evolution on roids. The only reason they’re coming for us is because our free will and autonomy is a waste of evolutionary resources.

I'm not saying you should use an M1A for home defense, but I'm also not saying you shouldn't.

Fun times.  I left for work Thursday morning worked 8 hours in town, got on a boat went across the water, worked 4 more hours.  Supposed to get home Saturday, instead got home today Sunday 5 pm.  And I get back on the boat at 10:30 pm Sunday to go back until, hopefully Friday evening.  All depending on weather, materials, and other people.   :banghead

    What's your line of work?

Construction.  This is a semi-remote custom home/lodge.  Counting work in town before I left, I worked 100 hours in the last ten days.

One pay period ended in the middle of those ten days.  So it will not be that much OT.   My work week is Mon-Sun, I worked Wed-Fri, 10 days in a row.  Pay period ended on the Sun in the middle, and it was 5 days on one week and 5 days on the next, so only 50 hours in each pay week.

get yourself something nice with all that overtime.

I also over spent when I bought the new tiny gun.  Not so much on the gun, but way more than planned on holsters and magazines.  Also I do not have access to my ammo storage/back up safe right now so I "need" more 9mm.  I have 2500-3000 rounds IIRC stashed in that safe.
