Helped friend pick first rifle today.
« on: November 03, 2008, 11:31:27 pm »
After intense peer pressure, and many spent rounds at the range, I helped one of my long time friends by his first gun today.  He wanted a "cowboy" gun, so he bought a Henry lever action 22.  This way I won't have to do a bunch more reloading.  So in celebration, tomorrow I will buy him a couple bricks of 22.

Like the Boy Scout slogan says: Do a good deed daily.

And a good deed you sir, have done.  ;)

They are finely built and down right pretty.   Neighbor down the road
from me has one and loves it.   He also just purchased one of the
very first in this area, their new 30-30.   He swore by the .22 for
accuracy.   Have not seen his new 30-30, but if it is equally accurate,
I'm sure he will be pleased.   Very nice walnut on the .22 stock!

Congratulations on bringing an old shooter into the new gun owner group. I've done it, and its a good feeling.

And, FMJ, for the record, its "Do a good turn daily." Sorry for being nitpicky, but as an Eagle Scout, it caught my eye and I just had to correct it.

I L*O*V*E* 22 guns!!!!  I keep no less than 20,000 rounds on hand of rimfire ammo to feed my 14+ rimfire guns.  Hell, my selection of rimfire ammo rivals most gun stores!  I should be welcoming another addition to the rimfire collection by the end of the week...a BRNO 611a .22 Magnum semi auto rifle.  I got it to replace a H&K 300 that I wasn't all too happy with.  The H&K is a beauty/piece of art, BUT the design as far as disassembly is asinine.  There is a release latch for the trigger assembly right behind the trigger guard, so when the gun is held by the wrist, it is very easy to accidentily pop out the trigger group.  What was the original topic for the thread????  Oh...good on you bud!!!  You can NEVER go wrong with a rimfire gun!!!

Yes, Rimfire will always have a place in my heart.  It was the first type of firearm that I and many others have used.  And not to mention how fun they are and the economical price of ammo.
