My kind of "bikes". I know, they aren't two wheelers (don't yell at me for cheating here), but this is the riding we like to do as a family, and its as much fun as riding two wheelers.
The top one is me on my Honda Rincon in Utah's west desert at the south end of the Great Salt Lake, and the bottom pic is of my two oldest daughters, the one on my Rincon and the other in our Rhino at the Daniels summit lodge about twenty miles give or take outside of Heber City Utah.

    Another shooter & rider.

Actually, can't think of any riders I've met who DON'T shoot (at least, those with clean records)

In the middle of a move .......away from the Metro area to SW Colorado where shooting and riding ( 4 legs or 2 wheels )

I usually ride a 2014 KLX250 that my son recently gave me.

My son last year at his playing weight of 230

Yesterday I tried my son's Honda 2003 Shadow American Classic and it rode like a concrete block. It reminds me of a Harley Fatboy. I hated it though he loves it. It is cool on a long ride on the interstate but as far as turning and lots of curves like we have here in the Smoky Mountains, its a pain in the ass. Anyone else feel that way about a "cruiser" style bike? Do all cruiser/Harley style bikes ride like that?

I much prefer the nimble KLX. Its just pure fun especially on the fire service roads that criscross the Rez.

I don't ride much anymore but I agree with your assessment of "cruisers".   Never had much use for a motorcycle that wouldn't allow me to stand on the footpegs if necessary.  Leaning backwards with your feet stuck out in front of you is OK for watching TV but its not something I care to do while traveling at the posted speed limit.    :scrutiny

Yeah. That was part of it too now that you mention it. Weird feeling from what I was used to.

I did in college to save money on gas.  At least thats how I rationalized it  >:D.  Since I had kids though I have stopped, but have entertained the idea of riding again breifly since I am stuck on the freeway a lot and a motorcycle can ride in the carpool lane.  Like I said though, breifly, because I believe that I would have to have a death wish to start riding in again in Phoenix.

But if I did have a death wish I would have to buy one of these and let the chips fall where they may:

Sarge I'll give you my 2 cents, that's one of the reasons I ride vintage bikes aside from not having the budget for a new fancy bike. The old Honda's in particular are a weird mix of crotch rocket and cruiser in my opinion, engines in allot of them remind me more of a crotch rocket but looks like a cruiser and with an upright riding position I find them comfortable. My favorite bike I've rode over the years is still my old 74 CB750 though I will say I need to order up some foam and redo the seat since it's pretty compressed and on long rides that's no fun. But they are a great bike and there are allot of them still floating around available and pretty dang reliable once you get them into shape. Mine has been going the last 15,000 miles since I got it with nothing but oil changes pretty much. Taken it on longer rides of 7+ hours without much issue at all, just good old bikes and I like the way they ride.

My H-D Street Glide - for as big as it is - is surprisingly nimble in the curves. No, of course it won't carve them like a GSXR, but it's capable of more than I am, handles the curves as well as my little Sportster did. The feet are set just a touch forward of mid-frame. It's possible to, and I have at times, stood up on the floorboards on rough roads - though I wouldn't want to have to do it for too long. But overall, for the long-haul comfort, conveniences, storage space, and STYLE

I will be back on the road system in June, and I am buying a bike.  Wife is likely to end up with my, okay her truck, and I will need wheels while we find a second vehicle.  I have not been on two wheels in almost 5 years now, and am missing it bad.  I WILL have a bike by the end of June, even if I have to sell some guns.

Sarge, that KLX is waaaay too clean to have been rode properly.  I had a Honda dirt bike when I was in Japan and it was perpetually dirty...it just wasn't worth the effort to clean as I was constantly riding it.

I ended up trading a Remington 700 that I built for myself for a 2001 Honda 929RR Rossi edition this past January from a Combat Controller who was going to Airborne school or something (he was going to Benning) real short notice so the negotiation was pretty fast and furious.  I only had about a grand into the rifle and the bike booked at 3500 so I think I got a pretty good deal.  She runs like a scalded dog, but due to my physical condition/disabilities I just can't afford to lay it down so I ride it pretty conservatively.  I've been riding since I was 19 and on 3 continents so I got just about all of the stupid out of my system.

Got to ride a motard version owned by one of my sister's high school friends, 8 or 9 years ago.  In the dream world I would have two bikes, one for me and one for two up riding.  The one for me would be a KTM 690 Duke.

In the real world I am thinking WeeStrom, used.
