If I had a pistol, that would be it--on nightstand of course and with Speer Gold-Dots.
Truthfully, not great, but you should at least keep one of your Mosin's under your bed with the bayonet attached.    That'd be as big of a "OH ****" picture as any to a bad guy  ;D

For me there's nothing better than my Llama IX-D .45

Nothing better because it's all I have ATM in the way of pistols.  :P

Well I normally have my carry guns sitting next to the bed in my rack, so left to right 1911 Government, EAA Bounty Hunter 44mag, Taurus PT145, Kel-tec PF9, Kel-tec P3AT. Mags etc all within reach, no less than two for any gun, Mossberg 500 hanging above the bed stoked with buck, 5 more on the side with mounted light. Single shot 12ga on Sarah's side with buck, and a side saddle(she prefers the simplicity). Currently AK pistol under edge of bed with another 30 rounder locked, and 2 more handy.

More less without kids we don't worry much about leaving guns about, if it's around it's pretty much loaded and ready to go but put in a rack. If we've got kids around then most everything listed gets unloaded, cased and put up other than the guns on my person, and then I'll usually put on a third gun in an ankle rig or something of the sort in case I had to arm someone else without losing my BUG.

Either way I'm glad to see I'm among others, I always figured "Be Prepared":)

AR-15 and chest rig with 3 mags, a flashlight, and a blowout kit. Also have a warbelt with pistol, knife, mags for pistol I can don if I have the time. Chest rig can be worn either normally or like a bandoleer.

And my friends say I have to many guns loaded within arms reach.  :clap

Between left side of bed and nightstand Rem. 870 w/ light. Loaded with Hornandy Critical Defense 00Buck 6+1 and 5 more on side saddle. On left side night stand SP101 with Rem. Golden Sabers with a speed loader next to it. It is also the gun that gets carried. Right side of bed is 1911 8+1 with Speer Gold dots loaded. Also have 2 extra mags inside nightstand drawer. 7 or 8ft from bed in a drawer is a S&W 629 .44mag loaded with magtech hollow points, with 2 speed loaders. also in that drawer is a Glock 22c with 2 15rd mags of winchester white box. Over my workbench in the back room in the basement are the Nagant and SKS neither one is loaded though, but that is where all the ammo is kept.  Also have a lot of knifes all over the house(fixed blade and lockbacks).

Norinco 1911A1 .45 in a digital safe (to be in legal compliance) in the bedroom.  Three mags loaded with 230gr SXT's.

Remington 870 with 12.5" barrel (usually) in my office, stoked with 3" 00 magnums.

SKS in storage compartment in family room with 100-200 rds on stripper clips.

Numerous knives and cans of bear spray around the house.

I got a chuckle out of this:

I carry a large folder (ZT 200 or Cold Steel Voyager w/ a tanto blade) clipped to my shorts from the time I wake up until I go to sleep as my Go To weapon until I can reach a firearm.

I thought I was the only one that carried a knife (mine would be a CRKT M-16 SF) clipped to my gonch when travelling between the bedrom and the bathroom.  My wife used to think it was paranoid...

Para P16-40 converted to 10mm and a Witness 10mm in the Gunvault beside the bed, + 4 M1 Garand clips.  In the closet is an M1 Garand and 3 spare mags for each 10mm.

Soon, the M1 will be bumped by a CETME, once I find one at the right price and run 500 or so rounds through it.

I have six kids around the house, all of whom are well schooled on gun safety and all but two of whom are schooled in gun use (the 4 and 5 year old have been shooting, but I wouldn't yet consider them practiced).  But, we have a constant parade of their friends over as well.  Who knows how they are educated, or most likely not educated, when it comes to firearms and proper handling.  Hence the security protocols.

The Para16-40 + a spare mag are never further away than my car during the day.

Until I get Black Sunshine "right" it's just a Mossberg by the bed and whatever pistol I've been carrying for the past couple of days. I live alone so I have handguns hidden all throughout my apartment. Top of the fridge, on the sliding keyboard shelf of my computer desk, cabinet above the stove...I also keep a S&W 3913 in the bathroom. Hey, ya never know! lol

When LSN is sleepy, his hands and fingers tend to be clumsy.  I find safeties to be difficult to manipulate, and Glock-type triggers to be dangerous for the first few moments after waking, so double action revolvers are my Go Time standbys.  I consider them to be more forgiving to mistakes while my head clears.

On my left side nightstand is my S&W 1917 with a spare moon clip; to my right, my S&W 442.  There is also usually a large knife or two within easy reach, as well as the bottom half of a cut down pool cue.

The Para16-40 + a spare mag are never further away than my car during the day.

I wouldn't trust leaving a gun in my car. I guess if security is really good in your lot it's okay. But it still happens. Even in "nicer" parts of town. Break-ins/thefts I mean. I worked in accounting at a large surgical equipment manufacturer (Kozlowski anyone?) and by the looks of the neighborhood, office building and lot you'd think you were safe. But in one year two cars were stolen and a third was just broken into. So that was enough for me. I won't leave my gun in a car while I'm at work.

I carry my PF-9 in a belly band. No one is the wiser. If someone loses it for whatever reason I have options immediately available to me other than running and hiding.

I guess what I'm saying here is that unless your job requires you to wear a speedo all day long you should try to carry something small. Even if it's something you'd not normally trust your life to. I've been carrying in the office since my first office job back in 1994. And all of them but one had a "no guns, knives, explosives etc." stipulation in the company handbook. Alas, that section never stopped a single psycho from shooting (or attempting to shoot) their boss and/or co-workers.

This is one man's opinion. YMMV

HiVel, I agree with you. However, in my case if I were 'made' carrying at my place of employment I wouldn't just be fired, I'd end up in a federal penitentiary.

While I would neither be fired or prosecuted were I caught, I would face a severe reprimand, and it would cost me significantly in future opportunities at the company.

And, as I have a reserved space at my company, my vehicle is subject to enhanced observation by the on site security team.  I can also see it from my office.

In order to gain access to my area, a person has to pass through a sally port where their identity and badge are checked, and then have a badge which will get them through two more secured doors.  Plus, the area is not a high value target area of the facility.  While I am sure someone determined enough could get to me, they would have to be specifically looking for me before I would become highly concerned.

All in all, the risks are extremely low, and the penalty would be rather high in long term monetary cost, so I choose to comply with policy.  Hopefully I won't regret violating the first rule of carrying a gun, which is have a gun.

As Jack put it, everyone's situation is different. You're parking situation is significantly tighter than the place I mentioned where cars were stolen/broken into.

Are knives verbotten too? I might be nuts to some but I would still try to stop a madman with a folder. Of course the tactics would be so much more focused on the element of surprise. And hopefully the image of someone doing something completely unexpected would give the killer pause. Hell, I'd attack with a letter opener if it's all I had. I know myself well enough to where I cannot sit idly by while someone is killing people at their leisure. And if I get shot and/or killed in the process, I'll know that I at least tried. Because so many don't.

But yeah, in a case like that gun > knife > letter opener. Which is why I'd feel a little more confident going against a shotgun or AR with a pocket 9mm than one of those other implements.

Um, yeah. Let's hope that never happens m'kay?  :devillol

They are not.  The two big folders on the flanks are kept in the bag by my leg, the smaller folder in in my pocket, except for times like right now when it is cutting up an apple.

And I forgot to grab a shot of the folder in my boot.  I always forget that on is there.

What I do not understand, is why anyone would have a 'bathroom gun.'  I have no 'problem' with it, but would it not be more effective to just carry one gun (your ccw piece) around the house?  That way, there is no fumbling for your gun; it's exactly where it always is.

    You sir,  :rock

EDIT TO ADD: What IS that knife in the middle? Al Mar? Whatever the make, I am attracted to it! lol  It looks like a folder that Ek would make if they made folders. Or maybe they do? I'm a bit outta the loop when it comes to knives. I usually go CRKT, Benchmade or Kershaw.

My CCW piece(s) are either a SIG 229 SCT, Ruger P-90, XD 45 or a Delta Elite (hopefully a Walther PPQ and a Ruger .44 Alaskan in my near future). My work CCW is a PF-9 in a belly band and that's not the most comfortable way to carry either. None of the other pistols are all that light when fully loaded. So no, I'd rather not be having one of them on my hip when I'm just watching the Red Sox game. Besides, even if I did carry around my apartment I would still remove the pistol from the holster when taking a leak or dropping a deuce. It's just easier if it's not on the hip.

That and there's what Chief45 said.

At my workplace we used to have a lump of lead pipe that "just happened" to be on the shelf under the till.

Unfortunately, the new boss is against such practices (Though I don't blame him - he'd get into worse s___ the assailant if any of the staff actually used it...)

Now my options are: stab them with scissors, stab with a pen, use my fists, or if I'm feeling particularly berserk I can just hit them with the till.  ;D
