I'm building a long-range setup. Got a place, a set of targets and a friend to help teach me.
Rifle will be a Rem 700AAC-SD with my 762SD-N6 can. That rifle only comes in .308 with a 1-10 twist 20" barrel.
The plan is to learn to shoot torso sized targets out to 800yd or more. We're not sure what the max range of our little spot is yet, so 800 is the initial plan.
I want MOA reticle-MOA turrets. I'm a navigator, so my brain works in degrees/minutes/seconds. What magnification is up for debate. I'm half blind (which is why I'm an Air Force Navigator and not an Air Force Pilot) so high magnification is a must. Variable is also a must, since I want the rig to be flexible from ragged hole at 100yd to COM at 800+. FFP vs SFP is a question.
Optics budget is tentatively set at less than $1,000. I'm looking to cry once on this scope. The budget is flexible, but not extremely so. Less is good but not at the expense of quality.
So what are the recommendations?
