Quick Release Rings
« on: February 08, 2013, 12:57:07 pm »
So I picked up my nice new shiny scope.  Now I need advice on which rings to get.  I was thinking of picking up some Vortex Quick Release rings but they are running $83.  Are there any others that I should consider?  This is my 2nd scope in 16 years so I'm way out of the loop on what might be good quality.

The scope is going to be alternating between a .308 and a .22.  On my first scope that I had, I sold it with the quick release rings.  I forgot to write down what I had but it was super simple and held 0 very well.

I'd be really careful about what you're wanting to do there. If the bases on the two rifles aren't aligned identically it will be easy to put a lot of stress on your scope tube when switching between rifles.

Hopefully they're both using one-piece bases at least?

For a high end .22, it was recommended that I look at:

I use a bobro scope mount and its awesome, probably not quite what your looking for but its all I've got experience with for QD mounts.

Sorry, somehow I edited your post rather than replied.

That is pretty, but likely out of my price range for now.  But I do like the 1 piece design.  :thumbup1
