Good Binos
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:18:03 am »
I said before in another thread that I feel that good binos are a critical field item.
To me, having my binos with me is even more important than what gun I bring.

To illustrate:   Just today I used my binos scouting for coyotes in an area where I've seen movement.  I glassed the area and was able to locate sign... and I would not have been able to find that without my glass.  Also, thanks to the new truck... standing up in the bed of the truck offers a heck of a lot better view.   Anyways, back to my story...
As 3:00 rolled around, I had to go back into my little town to the school to pick my boys up.  While parked and waiting for my lads to come out, a guy named Quinn came by to chat.
Quinn is a member of my church, and avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast so are aquanted.  He has been into my store several times looking at our GPS devices.  He'd get my take, get some information and then go back to some GPS Forum or something and research out the GPS units he's interested in.  Well, today he tells me that he was out on the Mule Deer Hunt with his brother (I think it was) and he had a very nice set of Swarovski Optic Binos... pretty much the best there is.  As he explained, Quinn with his cheap glass, from a distance, was able to locate a group of deer.  His brother, with the good glass, was able to identify "a couple good bucks".  This was detail Quinn was unable to resolve.  Sure enough, using his brothers's good glass, he was able to see the bucks and even get an idea as to the possible scores.
Needless to say, he is going to hold off on the GPS now.  He's going to be seeing me about some good binos.

If the same way.  Good glass is essential.  Just like your rifle scope, your binos are that important... if not more so.

I was looking around for a good pair of binos. They do come in handy.
