Title: Airsoft skills and do they translate
Post by: luke213(adamsholsters) on August 16, 2019, 11:02:15 pm
So this has been a discussion for years and I've always been in the middle on it. I've long been involved in airsoft as a fun hobby almost 20 years now. That said I've always felt some skills translate and others don't. It depends on equipment etc. Reloading absolutely can transfer over its actually silly enough why my goto gun is an AR. I used an AR in airsoft all these years it's super comfortable sight picture and mechanically for me. Reloads are easy as can be and while I'm no speed demon like the guys in the video below I'm more proficient than other platforms. Strangely Handgun is where I use airsoft far less or have and allot of my Handgun skills go the other way. I've practiced way more on Handgun draw and fire drills with real firearms than airsoft and that translates the other direction. Transitions from rifle to Handgun that's a place where airsoft has helped a ton. So it's a mixed bag.

None the less point of that all is this video I ran into. Guy from Japan never fired a real firearm only practiced/trained on airsoft. And they flew him over to shoot with them. Pretty dang interesting.

I thought it was an interesting video, I'm not a huge fan of Trex as a whole but the video itself was I thought a very interesting idea to test out. I've heard in the past that there were a few airsoft competitive shooters who came over to shoot competitions and did quite well but this is the first video I've seen of anything really related. Since in Japan the hangun competitions those guys spend huge money on their gear/guns, full CNC aluminum 1911's etc.

Just was interesting so I thought I'd share;)
