I found a '42 Walnut stocked one with a "bright and excellent bore" with some exterior bluing wear on the outside (which dont care about, I want a shooting rifle).  It's $280 shipped, good price right?

Wholesale they are usually around $230 right now, not a big savings, shipping on them tends to run about $30 so $280 shipped is a fine price. I would say that the walnut stocked (a few are beech) is the way to go.
