Last month (almost to the day), I made an impulse purchase I found on Backpage.  A 1943 Inland M1 Carbine.  Just snapped some quick pics this weekend.

I picked it up from a guy whose father had just died a few days before and had it in his collection.  He was selling it to pay funeral costs.  He told me that he wasn't sure where his father had gotten it, but that he had always had it as long as he could remember (45 to 50 years would be my best guess).  I asked about sentimental value, and he kind of avoided the question, just saying that "there are some other things I have".  Hm.     I didn't press any further.

So here it is.  Came with the bag, bayonet, the whole kit.  Heh.















I haven't been out to shoot it yet, but I plan to here one of these days soon.

Awesome!!!   I think it has been re-arsenaled because as a '43 I would not expect to see ladder sights, low wood stock and a bayonet band...but as I found out today while at a friends.place shooting the '44 Winchester I just got that 99.9% of the carbines out there have been reworked or have mixed parts.  Nice bayonet btw...just bought a M4 with leather from his collection for sale (www.ebayonet.com) for his "special" price of $65, so nice inclusion there of that...also the sling looks original ("U" shaped ends instead of a solid "D" brass end) and a year appropriate flat bolt.  Again nice find, hope to hear about shooting it soon.

It was re-arsenaled.  Hard to see in the pic, but it is stamped 'AAQ' (Augusta Arsenal) on the left side of the stock.

just fyi...got a bunch of that Armscor .30 carbine available through CTD and other places now....shoots good and is fairly affordable...I think I paid $17 a box
