What is a C&R License entitle one to?  How does one obtain a C&R license?
CaliforniaThere are many like it, but this one is mine.

A Type 03 FFL aka C&R License, entitles you to directly purchase firearms that are classified as Curios or Relics by the BATF, for the purpose of personal use. C&R firearms purchased with the license may be sent directly to the address listed on your license and without an intermediate FFL or the need to fill out a form 4473. C&R firearms are either over 50 years old or have been determined to derive the substantial portion of their value from their collectability.

To get a C&R you got here and order the form F7CR (it's free). When you get the form in the mail, you fill it out completely and send one copy to the ATF along with $30 (the form includes an option to pay by credit/debit card) and the other copy to your local chief law enforcement officer. You must be 21 and have a clean record.

Once you receive your C&R license you must record all your purchases or sales of C&R firearms (regardless of whether you use the license to purchase them) in a bound book which may be inspected by the ATF.

More info here, though it may be slightly dated:

Brownells sells a great bound book, and once they have your C&R you get thier dealer pricing.  In fact most places will give you the dealer price once you send em a copy.

My goal is to be +20/-1000 before 2010!

Thanks for the input.  I know that once I become a full-time gun owner, I want to collect milsurp. Everything from a Schmidt-Rubin K-31 to an SKS.
