eForm 4 w/ Fingerprints Coming Soon!

TL;DR, ATF is re-introducing electronic Form 4's using the standard FBI electronic fingerprint setup (which is what pretty much every single digital fingerprinting system in the country uses, including Silencer Shop kiosks) in just about 2 weeks.  Which should (hopefully) drop wait times dramatically.  If that happens, I don't know about you, but my last "issue," so to speak, with getting a suppressor will be gone.

I'm not going to be happy until the whole issue passes into irrelevance because suppressors are no longer a restricted item.  :coffee

It was, and is, among the stupidest regulations ever conceived regarding firearms.

On the surface you are 100% correct, but seeing as the original NFA provision was meant to restrict handguns, and would have seen handguns and self defense relegated to the wealthy and elites, I would say it was a fair trade. If the United States did not have the self defense culture that handgun ownership facilitates, we would by this time have lost our right to own semiautomatic weapons for sure, and probably more.  But at least we would have Suppressors. "Suppressors?  For your registered break action hunting rifle?  Certainly, peasant, that sounds reasonable.
