WTS:(MT) Waffenwerks AK74
« on: April 29, 2014, 08:34:51 am »
A Waffenwerks AK74 5.45X39. Chrome-lined barrel with about 6-800 rounds through it. It is in good shape, wearing plum furniture at the moment. The rear tang has been cut off flush with receiver for ACE stock installation. Has no effect on it, super-solid with only one screw holding the buttstock. Has siderail scope base.

Comes with two black Bulgarian magazines and one Tapco magazine.

I'm wanting $700 shipped. $700 FTF in Montana.

Would drop price to $675 shipped if I keep the plum buttstock and handguards (Pistol grip still installed for 922R).

Would sell additional Bulgarian AK74 magazines at $20 apiece with gun.

Uh, no...  He has been streamlining his collection for some months now.  This is probably just an extention of that.

As it is, while we have lost the cheap surplus ammo, the commercial market is sure to fill the void.  This same thing happened years ago with 7.62x39.  The cheap Chinese ammo was banned from import...  It doesn't seem to be putting a damper on the current popularity of that round, does it?

It's a good rifle, in a good caliber.  Give it a year or two, and the ammo supply will be no worse than 7.62x39 is right now.

The ammo does exist, it's just finding it where some jackass isn't trying to retire off of selling it.

5.45 ammo is not banned.  Not even banned from import.  Just the cheap, corrosive ammo is.  So now, instead of owning an AK-74 'because it's cheap to shoot,' guys are going to have to choose a 47 or 74 based upon the strengths and weaknesses of their respective cartridges.

dang, 5 posts and not even a single question  :neener

I'm not worried about ammo, I have a fair bunch.  I'm just stashing it for the day it becomes like Chinese surplus and worth .35 cents+ a round.

Basically it came down to three things:
#1.   I am trimming dead wood.   I realized it's always the same cluster of guns I shoot, the rest were an extension of "GOTZA HAZ IT".
#2.  Consolidating, basically my only two "main" calibers are 7.62X39 and 7.62X54R now.
#3.  a perfectly good gun....I just really don't care for the AK74.  I like my .30 cal thump.

For any WTA veteran members (not 1 post newbies) Pm me offers, I may do you a deal if the gun stays in the WTA family.
