Some guns for sale
« on: July 16, 2017, 10:37:29 am »
I am putting a few items up for sale.

-Walther P1
-S&W Model 19-4
-Spanish K98 Mauser

Since Photobucket is out, and I have yet to come up with a better alternative, I am just going to link to the Armslist listings that I set up.

https://www.armslist.com/posts/7075950/pittsburgh-pennsylvania-rifles-for-sale--spanish-k98-mauser-

https://www.armslist.com/posts/7074255/pittsburgh-pennsylvania-handguns-for-sale--s-w-19-4

https://www.armslist.com/posts/7074297/pittsburgh-pennsylvania-handguns-for-sale--walther-p1

The WTA price for the items is:
Mauser $380 shipped
S&W $450 shipped
Walther $400 shipped

Basically the same price as I am asking from everyone else, but free shipping on the two.  The Walther is being sold at my minimum, so I have to add shipping on that one.

I am not selling out of necessity, so I am welcoming trade offers.  Trades can be plus cash either way.  What I would really like is an Israeli K98 Mauser in 7.62 Nato...

Aw man, why did you have to tempt me with the model 19!!!  :bash

    Not cool  :facepalm.

Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.

The price is fantastic, but you said it didn't have the fully reinforced forcing cone and I would have preferred a 3 inch barrel... Not sure if I could carry this one in my daily travels.

I think I'm going to wait and see one this one.

Yeah, I wouldn't wait too long.  There have been a few nibbles on that one, but nothing firm yet.  Actually, I take that back...  There was the one guy who wanted it bad, that I refused the sale on account of his borderline illegal requests.

Those are good prices.  I don't imagine any of them will last very long.  What kind of trade stuff would interest you ?   Guns only or other types of stuff as well?   :hmm

What I would really like is an Israeli K98 converted to 7.62 Nato.  Below that, I would like a German K98 or Gewehr 98 in 8mm.  In fact, if someone has a German Mauser, and doesn't mind moving over to a Spanish, I could do the Mauser plus one or both of the pistols, depending upon what you have.  Same goes for Lugers (9mm, 7.63, or American Eagle) keeping in mind I can also add cash.  Just depends on what it is.

As far as just guns...  Not necessarily.  What did you have in mind?

The wood on that Mauser is gorgeous.    :drool

And the prices look very good, too.

But I'm probably about at my limit as far as my collection goes.  I hate saying it, but I probably have enough guns.   :'(

    For a while, anyway.   ;)

It could be.  Do you have anything in mind of reasonably comparable value?

Armslist has been remarkably useless this week.  Turned away four scammers, and had the same number of flakes, but no bites.  Usually I do better than that.

Random question, but what is the trigger like on that old Smith you've got?

    Smooth? Weight (guestimate)?

Well, I have a reasonably extensive collection of knives.  If you ask my wife she would refer to it as an unreasonably extensive collection.  Some militaria, some older commercial stuff that tends toward hunting and general outdoor use for the larger stuff and traditional pocket knife designs for the smaller stuff.  There are some pieces from custom makers that also tend toward hunting and general outdoor use but there are some kitchen oriented pieces as well.  A couple of older, American kitchen knives as well that would work either as using knives or collectible "Americana".   Prices would range from $40 -  $50 on the low end to over $600 on the upper end.   Considering we are talking about 80 - 100 pieces it might be easier to pick out an area of interest rather than try and showcase the whole collection, no?

See that is the thing...  I know all of nothing about knives.  I own a Leatherman on my belt, a Benchmade in my back pocket... and kitchen knives.  :-[   Are you sure you don't have any surplus guns we can haggle over?

Well, friend, I'm guessing you overlooked my question about your old Smith's trigger  :scrutiny. I was also curious about it's date of make.

Despite that one not having been answered, I'll add another one to it. If I pay you $450 by cheque, it's a 'deal'? I won't have to pay shipping or anything else?

I'm feeling myself breaking on this one  :banghead :banghead :banghead.

No, I saw it, just didn't know how to answer...  then I forgot about it.

I still don't know how to answer.  As smooth as a vintage S&W?  No stacking.  None.  And I love that in a trigger - it's why no DA autoloader's trigger has ever done it for me.  I would estimate that the weight is the same as any K-frame - like your M&P - but the wider target trigger on the 19s makes it feel less, to me anyway.  I bought it used, so no telling if the previous owner installed lighter springs.

Since we are talking about a 19, it is worth mentioning that the forcing cone and top strap are both in perfect condition.

I have no idea on the date.  Does anyone have a SCSW that I could give the SN to?

On another note, what is the value of a British Jungle Carbine in excellent condition?   I had a local trade offer against the Mauser, and the guy wants $500 on top of it.  I thought that was a bit steep.

I agree.  Even if its a proper #5 and not some cobbled together nightmare like some of the stuff on the market today that represents itself as a "jungle carbine"   :facepalm .   If you've not shot one of those with full power ammunition - well, lets just say they aren't great fun for a long day at the range.  The dinky little rubber insert in the butt gets fossilized over time and actually enhances the sensation of recoil rather than reducing it.   They are also pretty well known for the wandering zero effect as the rifles don't always shoot exactly where they look.  Depending on condition I'd say a proper #5  might be worth as much as $800.00 but it would have to be in awfully nice shape and come with all the accessories for that price.

Update on this: I guess he wanted the equivalent of $500 total value for his rifle.  I though that at least fair, but I declined on account of not really wanting a short Enfield.

Well, I have a short Enfield No.4 mk III that I like way better than any jungle carbine I've ever fired.  Its sort of a "tanker" version that was cut down by our own JesseL of Lambert Gunworks and is just stupid handy for a former full sized battle rifle.  I think it is the quintessential bolt action truck gun for my neck of the woods.

Perusing the collection, I did come across an Israeli K98 in 7.62 NATO but I'm having trouble convincing myself I want to trade it at this point.   :hmm

I saw the pictures way back.  Jesse did a fine job on it.  I know better than to ask for that one.   ;)

How is Jesse these days?  Haven't seen him around here in a while.
