I'm digging the fact that I can put 3 of my boys up front with me, and the others in the back seat, and dogs in the bed.
Took my boys for a ride around town like that... they liked it.  I think the dogs loved it the most.  They haven't done that for some time... since last winter when Brutus, my Bronco was rolling.

Changed the oil and lubed my Chevy today after I got home from work (I hate skidplates), and I was reminded of this thread...

Glad you are enjoying it. Once I got mine, I don't know how I ever lived without it. And it's fun to pull up beside a Prius and look down from your lofty perch and sneer.

I should hope not. Mobs of rogue woodworking tools would suck to repel.

I heard that.  I've had my four-door Silverado for about a year now.  It's a street truck (22" chrome rims with custom painted inserts), but still bada**.  Handles medium off-road terrain and pulls a trailer just fine.  Hey... I'm a city guy.  I'm going to post some pics of it soon.

My wife kids me that I love it more than her.

    Ummmm...   :-\

I had to drop my baby off at the shop today.  I have an '05 Excursion Diesel Limited (6 kids, gotta haul them around somehoe.)

Last Thursday, it started bucking and missing on the way to work.  By the time I got home, it would barely run at any RPM over idle but below 2000.  I suspect a bad sensor is telling the injectors the turbo is up to boost when it isn't an that is causing it to run way too rich.

Hopefully it will be classified as 'drivetrain' so it will be under warranty.  I expect to hear from them anytime now.

We need to get together and talk Ford, Chevy and Dodge into making a truck together.  Here's what I am thinking.  Fords have arguably the best frames, Chevy has the best drivtrain and Dodge has the best motor.  Put them together and it would make one sick truck.

New Ford supercrew cab, dodge ram front clip/hood and front fenders and chevy bed/tail.

They could call it "The One"...   what do you think?

Given the shape of the US auto industry, it may become a reality sooner than later. A few years ago, Dodge had a concept Power Wagon that was way cool. It kicked butt in the looks dept.

If there is a major merger in the US Auto industry, it will be like US Air.  The most incompetent management will be retained, and the worst components will be combined to insure a disaster.

Studebaker / Packard comes to mind, as does AMC / CryCo.

I just have to express my joy in owning a decent truck.
It stormed today, and I had to go visit a member of my church.  There were storms today.  Heavy rains.  This means large areas of standing water that can cut off access on some of these small rural roads.
Well, in my Contour, after a good rain, there is no way I could ever get through.  In this Chevy, there was no problem.  I slowed down, pushed a small bow wave and just maintained my momentum and came out the other side with no problem.   This was a good thing.  I had to change out an O2 tank that would have gone empty pretty quick.

What bothers me is this... when I first got the Contour - I could have got a truck like this to start with.  Sheesh.

    George,
That's one fine truck.  Enjoy.  Nothing like a full sized pick 'em up.  I had a Mopar 4d, 360 v-8, 1/2 ton 4wd in '99.  Maintenance nightmare.

I've now got an '02 Nissan Frontier, 4wd, crew cab.  V6.  Got the power of a 4 cyl and the appetite of an 8 cyl.  106,000 miles since I got it new.  On the 3rd set of tires, and 3rd set of front brake pads.  Might be underpowered and thirsty, but the maintenance is zip and rides out great.  Gets me around the Michigan woods, does my hauling chores and back and forth to town.
