Most recent mod was the 20mm Ammo Can console. And it's lockable. <$60 in it.

Go for it! It's pretty opr8r.

I used 1ft sections of 3/8" all-thread through the existing holes in the tub. I sandwiched the tub between fender washers, with nylock nuts underneath, and regular nuts inside. I drilled four holes in the bottom of the can and then sandwiched it between nuts and fender washers again. You can adjust the height and tilt.

Since the 20mm can opens from both ends, I had to cut off some of the tab on the back (tough to explain, but easy to see when you get the can) so it will hinge open. Then I drilled 1/2" holes through the openings in the handle on the back, through the can, and put 1/2" carriage bolts through, with nuts and washers inside. Now your can only opens from the "front."

Finally, on the front, I drilled two 1/4" holes through the center opening in the handle, and put a U-bolt through. It protrudes through the center hole of the handle and I can put a padlock through it.

Really like the ammo box console.  I put a two gun vertical gun rack between the seats, which is handy, but I like your idea better.

I wondered what you had done about the all or nothing lid.  Sounds like you found a good solution.

    Repair Order=Fix-it-ticket I'm guessing.

I am thinking 36"s will go under there with out too much trouble.  Might interfere with turning radius a bit though.

Watching this thread makes me want to get to work on "my" project truck.  Just have to get the wife a different car so I can play with her 85 Toyota 4 runner.

For what it is worth I had 33" on my jeep and I have a 3" lift on it and it did interfer with the turning radius. I have 32" on there now and no real problems now. How wide the tires are will also effect that too. The 32" I have are slimmer than the 33" I was running.

    Went topless today!

Finally got warm enough to take the hard top off. I'm putting the bikini on tonight. I stripped the carpet out last weekend.

In a week or two, she'll be getting Lizard Skin on the inside, followed by Monstaliner. I'll keep the updates coming.

Very nice.  Jeeps and nice weather really go well together.  The perfect way to see the great outdoors, IMHO.

Paint is almost done. Just the rear end needs to be done. I'm going to wait to do that till I can do the round flush-mount tail light swap, which is going to require some cutting.

The doors haven't been touched, either. They need some rebuilding, and maybe some welding on the passenger side. That's Cold Weather Outbreak's problem. :cool

Loving it.  Outbreak.  I'm envious.  I sold mine a while back and really, really miss it now.  It was getting old and needed a lot of body work.  More than a lot.

It was mechanically sound as can be, but I was at the point where I was going to have to pull the body and replace all of it with either steel or fiberglass.  Rust had won the battle over time, the fate of most old Jeeps that really get used.

I found a home for it and virtually gave it away to someone I knew cared about Jeeps and planned to drop another body on my good frame, hopped up engine, drive train and suspension goodies.  Almost cried, but needed to do it.

Thanks, and sorry to hear about your rust. Mine has none. Zip. Zero. Nada. That was the big selling point. It's getting the tub sprayed in about 2 weeks, then I'll roll on another thick coat of bedliner. I'm trying to keep it from ever rusting.

I really wish that rust wasn't such an issue around here, so many good cars mechanically ruined by rust. I've got a plow Jeep old CJ5 but it's rough, like can't sit on the passenger seat because it will go through the floor rough. Still plows fine, but in need of a fiberglass tub to be much use. Can't see putting steel back on it up here. My Blazer plow truck about the same but slightly less risk of falling through the floor, but neither door closes because the body rot has gotten so bad that well the doors spread wider than the doors. And that's just the couple right now I own that are that far gone, owned tons that have gotten that bad usually from the under side. Still have got to put fenders, doors, rockers, cab corners and a box on my normal truck to remove the rot. Fortunately it was oil sprayed under so at least the body mounts and whatnot are solid, but the sheet metal took the brunt of the salt.

I used to love seeing southern body trucks when we traveled without rust;)

If I ever have a reason to take the tub off, everything is getting bed-lined. Bones and I also have absolutely no intention of ever living anywhere that salt would be an issue, unless it's from proximity to a tropical beach.

Well salt air and spray and high humidity helped do mine in.  I can look out of my office window and see the beach and Gulf of Mexico two blocks away.  Gorgeous view, but not good for steel bodies, especially old Jeeps. Humidity here is just about always above 80% and frequently in the 90s.  If I ever build another, it will have a 'glass tub.
