Bought the kit, now I have to wait.

So I've got a 1998 Tacoma, 4x4, 5 speed manual, 3.4L V6. It's a great truck, only 150k on the odo.

The suspension is stock from '98, so I decided for Christmas, Santa could send me a new lift kit.

So I got Bilstein 5100's for every corner of the truck, plus a toyota add-a-leaf rear and coil-over lifts for the front.

But I didn't get a new upper control arm.  :banghead :banghead

A UCA set will cost me another $400 easy. So this project has been postponed till the spring. And by that time, I hope to do the work myself. A shop in town offered $700 just in labor to install everything.

    It's a great truck. I'm just impatient. Now I've got a bunch of brand new parts sitting in a corner in my living room just mocking me.

    Did you buy a kit, or put together your own off of somewhere?  I was looking last night in a couple of places and did not see anything that appealed to me.  I want new suspension so am thinking a small lift is the way to go.  Of course truck parts fund got drained on a tire machine...

    I understand about things sitting there mocking you, my 88 4-Runner is calling to me as the other truck is not going in to 4x4...stupid actuators.  I am trying to decide what direction i want to go with my Toyota as it will likely never be a daily driver, unless I want it to be.

    Bad picture, small tires, but the lift kit and new suspension has arrived on my '98 Tacoma.  :thumbup1

    I don't think I'm putting anymore money into it as of right now. Not in a position, with a year left in my Chemical Engineering program.

    And I'll be running these wheels for as long as I can. It limits my tire options, but I'm looking to replace the tires in about a year or a year and a half.

    The next thing I'll probably be doing to this truck is spark plugs in another 20k miles, and in another 30 or 40k miles I'll be doing a rebuild to replace the lower diaphram and some valve gaskets.

    I get the wait and not wanting to put more money into vehicles...I was dreaming and looking on YOUR dime.  My 4runner has turned into my daily driver.  I do need newer suspension, so thanks for the link.  I am thinking about a modest lift and new shocks will make a world of difference in my ride quality.  I think I have three sets of tires, other than what is on the truck, but all mismatched and one set is under my parts truck.  And the ones on the truck are in need of balancing which is a pain in the ass when you are driving daily, and working a second job.

    My 4Runner is going to be needing some suspension love eventually. I don't run into clearance issues too often though and the tires I'm running are big enough, so I think that some bumpers and sliders are probably going to get the priority.

    That's a '99 right? Great vehicle. Had a girlfriend who's had her's since high school.

    The bilstein kit I have is stiff, but the ride is nice if a little springy. It'll settle out here soon though. I ran into some clearance issues while camping but that's mainly due to my tiny tires.

    Mike, the 4Runner is a fantastic vehicle. And this thing, while not a daily driver (I bike everywhere), is my only vehicle.

    The real project will be my 1995 Chevy.

    Yep, 99 Limited.

    It's got the multimode transfer case (2Hi, AWD, 4Hi, and 4Lo) and the electric rear locker. I've gotten it stuck a couple times, but I had to work at it.

    Nice.

    I did not go with ToyoTech as I chose to not go with a lift.  I did do most of the front end last weekend on a '92 Toyota.   :bash  Pay someone to do ball joints.  Not fun to do in a gravel driveway, unless you like laying in the dirt.
