I had been looking for one locally since the first of the year, and all of them were asking over $12K. Well, I didn't want to spend that much before making the desired changes. Anyway, I had basically given up when one popped-up on Craig's list about 75 miles north of me - asking price was $5900. I was the first in line to see it... I negotiated the best deal that I could and wrote the nice lady selling it a check...
So I purchased this 2007 RCSB for less than $5K about a month ago, and it had about 270,000 on it when I drove it home. I am the 4th owner, of this Georgia only farm / work truck. My goal is to make it as pavement friendly as possible, so I am lowering the rear to match the stock height of the front. New OEM coil springs, New Alcan leaf springs, new Bilstein shocks, new OEM alloys, new Michelins, and a TRD sway bar will make the truck handle & ride the way I want it to.
All of the required maintenance & service have been brought up to date, so I am now focused on cleaning up the interior & exterior. I have removed the badges, PDR is scheduled for next week, I will be replacing headlight housings with new OEM housings, then the interior & exterior will be detailed, After that, I'll be adding Wet Okole seat covers... I installed new FOCAL 6x9 co-ax door speakers last week, the original head unit is working fine for now.
Body armor: I found a new BLEM Ranch Hand brush bar for $275, I had it sprayed with Line-X before installation when the bed is sprayed. The original chrome bumpers are in decent shape, I'll leave them as-is for now... This build is not intended to be a show truck, it's meant to be a fun, reliable daily driver / road trip kind of truck. An unassuming sleeper if you will... as for engine performance, I am considering D.A.P. Tune, but nothing more.
The rear end will be lowered today.
