I'm in Harrisonburg VA, if you go out rt.33 west from H'burg it's just across the WV state line in the National forest.
Ah, I gotcha.

What about a midwest get together of the WTA guys out here?
I know of a few ranges we can go to.
One is an NRA Certified Public Range near Huntington, Indiana at Rousch Lake.
Another is Further south near Warren where MZW does a bit of range work. More expensive but longer targets.
Any other places we midwesterners can get together?
I really don't know if a 10 hour trip to the eastern panhandle of W.Va. is feasible right now.

Indiana'The average response time of a 911 call is over 23 minutes, the average response time of a .44 magnum is 1400 feet per second.'

Not what I meant. Was trying to get a feel for another thread to start concerning midwest WTA.

Milton Friedman is generally associated with coming up with the term but, I think the origins are lost in history.  It can be applied to anything but is most often referenced in respect to economics.

Heinlein used it a decade before Friedman.  Many used it (obscurely) before Heinlein.

Tango Down Range seems to be only about 2 hours from me, so I would definitely be in.  There's a spanish grocery store right by my house, so if we have one I think I could be persuaded to haul up some mexicolas for the group.  :D

Yay!  Be sure to bring your Sig.  :)

We have to decide which weekend to do this.  I'm pretty open.  Anyone want to toss out their preference? (at least 1 month out, for appropriate notice)

I'd suggest sometime in late May or early June. Before the summer schedules start up with vacations and things. It will also be less hot and humid. I'd suggest the 19th of May or the 2nd or 9th of June. The 19th avoids mothers day and we also avoid memorial day weekend.

I'd prefer June as well, as the 19th of May is the day the Blue Angels will be at Andrews AFB.  :D

Late May or early June sounds good to me. I'll bring some Mexi-Cola as well (and Mexi-Pepsi if anyone wants it), along with some Mezzo Mix.

The 9th of June fits in (so far) with everyone's suggestions.  FSCJedi, can you inquire as to the range?  Do they need an advance roster, to get a group rate, or no?  Do they need a definite date?

Do we have to 'reserve' the range, or just show up?  (Pardon my ignorance, as I have never used a public range.)

Simms and I will talk about it and see what we can find out. Right now we're looking at around a half-dozen people or so, correct?

Me, you, Raptor, Feud, RSViper, LouisCQ - Yeah, that's six.

However, some of us (not me) might bring a wife, girlfriend, or offspring.  I don't know...  :shrug

Also, some guys from WV, VA, or PA might still sign on.  For instance,
Jim and Caryn (and Caryn's son) - they expressed interest in the VA and PA shoots, but have not given any indication on this specific one.
Musashi is near Richmond - not sure if he would be interested in a drive.
RevDisk is (IIRC) in Central PA - no response yet, but it's still early.
Rock_Steady is not exactly a regular contributor, but he is in Morgantown, so he might be interested...

There might be others, but some or all of these are bound to bite.

Also, it would be good to know about any range restrictions:

    -What calibers are acceptable?
-Restrictions on steel case or core ammo?
-Must ammo be purchased from range?
    -Capacity limits?
    -Rapid fire restrictions?
    -Policy on minors?
-Any other rules or policies that might turn folks away?

To add on to Kaso's list:

-Can you rent ear- and eye protection, or do you need to bring your own?
-Are cameras (still and/or video) allowed?

Most calibers welcome. No super-large stuff just because the steel won't handle it. Steel cased ammo is fine, steel core is not (again, for the steel plates). Being your own ammo, by all means. We do have ammo available on site, but you'll pay a convenience premium for it. No capacity or rapid fire limits. We bring full-auto toys out to play all the time. Minors under the age of 18 (I believe) must be accompanied by an adult. Other than that, just come ready to have fun. We've got plenty of steel to shoot at (LOTS more than the website pics show).

Eye and ear pro is available, but I'm not sure about any associated costs. Cameras are encouraged! :-)

We would be up for either VA or PA, Jim likes to drive and I like to tag along. The weekend of June the 9th doesn't work for us though, our oldest will be graduating from HS that weekend.
