the ONLY rifle range for hundreds of miles is in Amelia county (a pretty central location in VA) and is only open seasonaly.  It re-opens April 1st, so it might have to wait till April.

I'd offer but neither of the clubs I belong to allow more than three or four guests at once. Though if anyone really wanted to play with some machineguns, and didn't mind rolling out at the crack of dawn to claim the range, it could probably be arranged...

Doesn't the WMA only allow rifles? Slowfire, benched, through tubes?

What about that outdoor place near Buena Vista? I don't remember it too well.

The one over in Augusta county?(Hite Hollow) I used to go there all the time. It isn't too far of a drive from Staunton VA, where there are plenty of motels and such, and it is a stunning driving. If I am remembering correctly though, they get a decent bit of traffic on the weekends. I know the BV/Lexington area has a range all their own, but it is by membership.

Hmmm... Starting on April 16, I will be working in Ashburn Va for the next 4-6 weeks.
This would be the optimum time frame for me to be able to partake.
Specifically between Apr 16-May 7... when I know that I should be in state.

With a few weeks notice, I should be able to make something in either VA or PA area.

Ditto, though PA would be somewhat easier for me.

Thanks for the offer, Caryn, but please don't go out of your way on my account. I'm just west of Philly, so I think that picking me up would add over an hour to your travel time (if I remember where you guys live correctly).

I did a little checking, and it turns out that I'm just about the same distance from Central PA and NOVA. For some reason, I thought VA would be farther away. (I think I inhereited Papa Raptor's navigational abilities; we nicknamed him "Christopher Columbus" for a reason.) So either/or works for me. No preference.

Hey! As a proud born-and-bred resident of the Philadelphia area... I don't blame you in the slightest.  ;)

And I volunteer to bring some beverages to the meet: I found a place near me that sells genuine Mexican-bottled Coca-Cola and Mezzo Mix.

Staunton is 20 miles from me. Also there is a free public range in WV just 26 miles from my place just off route 33 just over the WV line. It's got a 100 yard rifle range and a 25 yard pistol range.I could do west central VA pretty easily.

Also, it's not free, but I could probably get us a group discount (seeing as how I'm an RSO for this range), but Tango Down Range would be a nice option right in the middle of the Eastern Panhandle of WV in Hedgesville.  It's got plenty of steel to shoot at, 50' pistol and 100' rifle.  We could meet at the gun shop at Tannerman's Trading Company and ride over together to the range, which is about 15 minutes or so away.  Just a thought.  The range is on Facebook, too, with a ton of pictures.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

I don't know if the range would go for a group rate discount....  :bash

<-- is one of the guys who runs Tango down Range. If you want to converge I'll get it worked out.  :clap

I don't know how convenient that would be for the VA guys, but it would ROCK for me!

This could be a way to consolidate the PA and NoVa shoots.  I'm for it.

If we do it at this venue, I can definitely make it, so lunch for our group will be on me. :)

I'm in Harrisonburg VA, if you go out rt.33 west from H'burg it's just across the WV state line in the National forest.
