Taking your ball and going home.
« on: September 01, 2014, 04:28:05 pm »
Just got a PM from a Member, saying "Please delete my account and all my posts."
No.  I'm not going to do that.   It throws all discussions out of sync.  If you want to leave WTA, feel free.  But I'm not going to screw it up because you want to take your ball and go home.
Especially when the member has made many good contributions to the forum.
Normally this happens when there is a personal issue between members.
You guys are adults, old enough to drive, drink, and buy guns and all that.  So either work it out or just fade out and be gone with you.  If you want to throw everything out the window because someone hurt your feelings - that's rather small of you and I find it disappointing.
Because the whole rest of the forum members - we don't have a problem with you.   In fact, the rest of us consider you to be a friend.    We're all friends here.  That's what WTA is all about, what sets us apart from the heathen masses of M4netarfcomglocktalk.
Think about it.
Go unplug, clear your head, think things over logically, and chill the fluff out.   Letting your frustrations boil over means you are taking a gun forum discussion far too seriously.   We don't do that here either.
Go watch a couple movies, eat a good burger, get your head straight.   We'll still be here for you.

These kind of things happen on all internet communities, doesn't matter what the topic of discussion is.   I've even been the guy that got angry and left a group before.   I was going through a bad time and I needed to take a few months off and relax for awhile.

Damn....taht's too bad.   I didn't think our discussions ever got that bad.

I've been peeved in some arguments on here, but any one of them, as soon as it was over I'd have a beer with them.   One of the VERY few forums where I can disagree 100% with someone and still consider them a bestest pal.

    This is a true story:

In the mid 90's I dated a hottie that was a weekend DJ for the most popular classic rock station in Cleveland. There was a Christmas party at one of the station's big deals. Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie and Fastway) was the afternoon DJ at the station.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Shirley

He proceeded to get lit and pissed when nobody would sing along with him. At one point, he stood up and declared (in a Brit accent), "I am taking me guitar and going 'ome!" We all fell about the place with laughter. I actually felt bad for a rock star that night even though I knew the next day he would wake up a rock star and cash royalty checks for life.

Wonderfully approach to what can be a difficult topic, and I very much appreciate and support the "we're all friends here" sentiment.

In my humble experience, it's becoming more difficult to find such places on-line.  I've seen ill will spread on various chat channels and forums in the past 7 years, divisive attitudes ruining what could have been enriching communities.

I find the positive attitudes on this forum to be exceptional, and I thank you for it!

What, no response to my recent post in an otherwise old thread?  This is outrageous!  I must insist that all vowels be removed from all of my posts, and that my account be transferred to Personnel!

    That we can do.

Vowels removed.  Personnel will be calling you.

It's a thread that needs to pop up now and again.
Especially when guys get a case of the frustrations.
And it should serve to set the tone once again with the new staff coming on board to help things out.

    Makes sense.

I also had fun with it :)
