You're not a newbie, but welcome back anyhoo. Lots of us are fairly quiet these days.

Don't know what part of the state you're from, but the mood in these parts (out near the far western end) is . . . not good. Lots of folks are fighting mad right now. Local gun dealer is selling some more guns, but large quantities of ammo. More folks than ever in my memory are expecting something.

Welcome! Traffic here has significantly slowed, but we still welcome new comers. Sadly, even I (as a former frequently active member) have found other more active pastures.

The gas pumps are now self service and you have to turn off the lights when you leave, but the foundation still stands and once a month the grounds keeper checks on the place.

There is a wealth of knowledge here and some of us are still loitering around.

Joined a while ago, but never did an intro.

I currently work in Germany for the US Army as a civilian employee. Love it, but ready to move back to the states. Been here 5 years, which is about 4.5 too long. Not sure where I end up, but hoping to get myself to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.

Love this forum so far. I know it's small, but the content is top notch.

We like it. And your low key style fits in well around here.

If you are fortunate enough to land in or around Huntsville I think you will like it. Its going to be a lot different than anyplace in Germany but that Tennessee river basin is fine country in its own right. Before relocating to Arizona I lived for a time in northeast Alabama and recall it fondly. I was working as a civilian party contractor on construction at Ft. McClelland when it was still operational and on days off would frequently grab a few hours fishing or hunting the area. If not for the concentration of family here vs Alabama I would probably be there still. Good luck with your career and future relocation plans.

My home base is in Tucson. Been in Germany for 5 years though and only make it back to AZ once a year or so. Whenever I'm finally allowed, I'm going to head back for a few weeks. 2 in AZ and 1 in Huntsville so my wife can see what it's like.

Well, travel safely - its crazy out there these days. Where is you wife from? Has she ever seen a desert up close and personal?

I find that most people who've never actually seen Arizona still manage to have strong pre-conceived notions about it for some reason and when they actually do see it they are suitably amazed.

Well, in that case she's probably going to find Huntsville pretty interesting. Northeast Alabama, northwest Georgia and southeast Tennessee are their own kind of special. Hard to get a real feel for it in just a week but I bet she will enjoy it.

Lived in Chatta-vegas circa 95-97. Definitely a unique place.
