A most enjoyable day.  I highly recommend getting together wit' yo' homies and poppin' some caps.   ;D  I think we could have pretty well outfitted a rifle platoon with all the hardware we brought.  Looked like we were filming "The Table Mesa Irregulars" or something.   :biggun :bang :sniper  :uzi :mini :sniperblue

I am definitely looking forward to the next one.  :thumbup2

    +1 on what coelacanth said.

Thanks to coyotesfan several of us got to shoot a Garand for the first time, we all got to meet some new people, we saw some good shooting, we had a great lunch, and a lot of fun.

T will probably be along with pics later tonight.

Jesse, I thought you had a Garand?

Glad you guys had fun though.  I went mountain biking so I don't feel too bad.

Multiple sets of them actually, along with tons of brass and a lot of en bloc'ed ammo.

    ...But no Garand.  :banghead

At least I've got a couple '06 bolt actions.

Good times and good shooting.  It was a beautiful day in the Arizona desert.  We had a ton of milsurp guns.  Coelacanth had his Enfields and some nice .303 reloads.  I brought my Enfield Jungle Carbine and my Garand.  Jesse had the Mosin.

I spread the Iwannagunitis virus with my Garand and my Mossy 930 SPX.  (hint T really liked it).  The Mossberg is a sweet shotgun.  The full power one ounce slugs had some decent recoil but the buckshot and the low recoil slugs had little felt recoil.

I always thought Jesse had a Garand too. :rotfl

The April 24th WTA Range day was a success.  Here is the after-action report.

My buddy Nate and I showed up around 8:15 and scouted out a few locations.  Table Mesa is the sort of place where you just kind of find a safe spot and shoot.  So after a quick drive around, we head back to the off-roader staging area to await other members.  While there we got to inspect a destroyed Toyota FJ Cruiser and got a little story behind how it happened.  You can read about that in Automotive here.

After a quick couple of phone calls we discovered that Coyotesfan was already there and scouting a location/looking for us.  He heads back to the staging area and we venture out to find a spot.  Jesse caught up with us shortly after arriving.

After a short drive around and some discussion, we find a spot and begin to unload.  There was some concern as we had never met Coelacanth and didn't know what he was driving.  Table Mesa is VERY large with MANY places to shoot.  As we had failed to obtain the proper info prior to venturing out, we just kind of hoped he'd find us.

Lo-and-behold, no sooner did we get parked and began unloading, a big Ford truck pulls up and the driver asks, "You guys with WTA?"  He found us.  BOOYAH.  Coelacanth had arrived.

    So the shooting began...

Here's Coyotesfan and Jesse shooting my CavArms build.  It performed well.

    Coyotesfan with a 1911 (?).

    Jesse and his Mosin.

    The tailgate of Coelacanth's rig.

    Coyotesfan and Coelacanth gear up.

Jesse with his Mosin, Nate in the background with the CavArms AR.

Nate and the Cav AR, brass in flight.

    Jesse with a MKII (MKIII?).

    A look down range.

Jesse and Coelacanth  discuss weapons.  Coelacanth is holding a BRUTE of a double-barreled shotgun.  WANT!

    The group on the line.

Nate and an AK.  What you can't see is that he is shouting "AHLALALALALALALALA!" jihad-style.  :D

    Nate with a P6.

Jesse shooting prone with his .22-250.  At 100 yards he has touching holes.  Sweet gun.

Coyotesfan with his Mossberg 930.  That is one sweet shotgun and I can smell one in my near future.

And of course, we kept our promise and left the area better than we found it.  Here is the range the way we found it...

    And how we left it....

And the trash we picked up....

After the shooting we headed down into Phoenix for some lunch.  We ate at a place called The Mellow Mushroom.  Great pizza, great wings, GREAT BEER!  ;D

Here are a couple pics I took to send to Harm and make him miss us...  :D

An ice-cold glass of Kilt Lifter.

And the empty pizza pan.  ;D

    Great day with great people!

We're going to do it again soon.

Those are really good pics. I had no idea when half of them were being taken.

Is that a .22 case I see flying from my MkII 22/45?

I came back with a nice pile of brass for reloading too (a big thank you to coelacanth for the .22-250 brass).  :woohoo

Next time we do this, someone needs to bring some Tannerite. This was loads of fun, but everything is more fun with high explosives.

...and a TRP at that.  The man has class.  :clap

Looks like fun guys.  We will have to do this when I come down in October.

Great pics T - thx.  And BTW, some Tannerite would have made you guys a lot easier to find  ;D.  Next time I'll bring some field loads for Slappy but if you think 00 buck is fun to set off you should try a 1 0z. slug :o.

I can't remember the specific model, but it was an Israeli 7.62 NATO conversion.
