It's cold and I'm doing stuff;)
« on: January 29, 2019, 12:58:27 pm »
So update of sorts for the first time in a while, I've been kinda hibernating in the shop;) Temps are supposed to get up above zero during the day in a few days so looking forward to that. Baby will be here in another few months and that is coming up awfully fast;)

I've been doing ALLOT of tooling for leather and kydex the last few months. I had mentioned that I was holding off on taking on those kinds of things but I've been taking them and having good luck. So basically if you've got a gun that is an oddball or just can't find a rig for shout. Some stuff I've been charging a fee for if it's something I don't think I'm going to do very many of, much the same as I do with dummy guns. And much the same the fee likely doesn't cover time and materials to make the dummy gun;) But it makes Sarah feel better at the end of the year when doing taxes not to see me throwing lots of money away;)

This week I built out tooling for a Dan Wesson Specialist and a Dan Wesson TCP not a whole lot different but both guns that I felt could use their own tooling for minor bits that are different. The TCP in particular because of it's odd slide contour. One for leather the other for a kydex order. 99% of the time once I've got it modeled I'm building it for both sides so to speak, but of course the kydex tooling is different since it's blocked out for things differently than the leather tooling.

Either way if you're hunting for something shout;) Aside from that things are going well, working on allot of "normal" holsters as well so not everything has been stuff I've modeled but I certainly have been doing allot of that lately to handle some new guns etc. I'll also again likely be adding a bunch of guns to the list on the site since while it's not been too long since I updated there are a fair number that I need to toss up.

Oh and in SHOT2019 news/Glock news I did add the Glock 48 as well as the 43X to the site just this last week. So I'm tooled up for both if anyone is on the hunt;)

Take care!

Luke

I'd send you the pistols themselves if you were an FFL, or had one on tap.   You are obviously trustworthy.

Well my neighbor just surrendered his otherwise that would be an option but I'm fine with dimensions that will do just fine.

In fun times when to the doctors appointment and wearing town clothes not dressed for the weather we managed to get a flat tire. And as much as I don't mind changing a tire I borrowed a car from my in laws and I'll come back tomorrow with real tools. Current temp is around - 20f with 40mph gusts driving the wind chill down to - 50 or something like that. For not wearing my normal woods clothes I managed to have to beat a retreat home. Got changed went back out to haul firewood etc in for the night. It's really not bad in my normal clothing. But jeans and a t-shirt with my carhart jacket isn't enough for those Temps.

So tomorrow is a new day but unfortunately one where I'm going to loose half of it to going to get the jeep and swapping some tires.

    Take care

Dang son, -20F is colder than anything in my house - including the inside of the chest freezer which is currently registering about -5F . . .  :shocked

    Take care of yourselves.

It's a touch cold out we haven't actually had above zero Temps for almost a week now. But we're home in our warm house and tomorrow I'll setup with proper clothes and go get it squared away;)

Been meaning to ask, Luke.  With any luck, some time in the not too distant future, I'm going to be in the market for a new rig for my 1911.

Do you have access to Burmese Python?  Or some facsimile thereof?  I love that white and gold pattern, and I'd like to have a holster and dbl mag pouch.  Single retention, made for carrying in Condition 1, w/FBI cant.

Fair warning I don't know much about snakes;) Know a bit about their hides, but species etc is kinda out of my normal wheelhouse since I don't do a ton of snake rigs;)

But I do have python not sure species but looking over some pictures of what's available on the hide market I'm seeing allot of what looks the same with various dye effects but badged as Burmese Python. Here is a pic of a rig I did in it:

I've got some that isn't as stark white as that and of course there is some variation in color and tone. I don't believe I have any on hand that is dyed but it's all sorta like that example. But I do that fairly often in combination with another hide and I've done some full coverage rigs with it.

I had to double check.  It's Albino Burmese Python, that I'm looking for.  Though that pic you linked to is nice.  I'm just drawn to that white and gold pattern.

I'll do some looking but I don't see much at all for them in that color tone. Probably one of two things, how uncommon they are(not sure if they are or aren't) or that the tanning process removes the color tones and as such it doesn't look the same tanned as natural.

Either way I'll do some looking and see what I can find out;)

That's cool.  No rush.  I've seen boots in it, so I know it's out there.
