Exotic grip giveaway contest
« on: July 29, 2019, 09:44:43 pm »
Heads up guys I'm doing a contest on Facebook giving away a set of grips;)

In other news I designed and built exotic grips and plan to offer them on the site in the near future;)

Go here if you're on facebook and want to enter: https://www.facebook.com/adamsholsters/

Typically I'd do something where you could post here but since I setup the contest before thinking through how I would include WTA guys well it's a Facebook thing I guess, if there is enough interest and guys who aren't on Facebook then I'll do another one here. But more than anything I wanted to get the word out on Facebook that I'd be doing some exotic grips going forwards;)

Couple pics of the ones I'm giving away also:

And a set of slimline ostrich grips that I'm not giving away but I've also got a picture of:)

Take care!

Luke

Thanks sir;) I had been wanting to do this since maybe mid 2011ish I built a set from kydex with stingray adhered to them. But I was doing it by hand and just honestly wasn't workable as a solution and it didn't look right or turn out as good as I'd like.

These I cad designed and built, so plastic subframe of sorts which won't absorb moisture or change in any appreciable way over time. They are dead on spec wise to fit(which was a huge PITA with making them by hand). And the other nice thing is I can change them to match the material. So in this case I made them shorter exactly the amount of material to match the spec of the shark hide. But I can do the same with the other exotics to make sure they maintain the right thickness and aren't oversized or weird sized;)

So long term project that I actually revisited a month or two ago and started tinkering with and once I saw I could do it now I started to move things towards making them a reality;)

Hmm. Now you've got me wondering about grips for my Witness.
Shark hide is supposed to offer an excellent grip, is it not?  I seem to recall it was used to wrap the hit of Japanese swords.

Yes and no;) Not this kind of shark it's smooth with the denticles removed. And for carry you wouldn't want the other kind since it grips clothing like crazy and wouldn't be practical at all.

That said this isn't smooth wood smooth, but it's not super grippy either somewhere in the middle but it's growing on me.
