Man, I wish it was like that now.  Things would be simpler.  Now the republicans think every day is 9/11, or 'Patriot Day,' where 'let's see how much more government we can justify,' and democrats think every day is 'trans acceptance day.'

Democrats want to fleece 'the wealthy' to pay for it all, and republicans just don't bother with pesky details like the tab.

 :facepalm

I recall back 10-15 years ago, when blogs were still the thing, 15 April was "Blogger Buy a Gun Day"

If my employer wasn't dicking around with my paycheck (they pulled 80 hours from my end of March check), I'd probably think about buying one of PSA's M4gery "Freedom" rifle kits.  I've been wanting to ever since Parkland, just to annoy the Usual Suspects.

Not the 15th, but I purchased a 3" M&P revolver this past week.  Hopefully it is in by tax day.

Me too.  Maybe next year.

Maybe, depends on if I see any good deals on anything.  It's been an expensive week with this remodeling  project I've got going on. Keep having to run over to the store to buy more supplies.

An M&P (pre Model 10) with a 3" barrel and a nickel finish.

How is the finish on it? I was told that nickel doesn't age well. Then again, old/aged guns look cool and have character  :cool .

I'm sure nickel doesn't hold up well if you drag it through the trenches of the wesstern front, but it looks fine to me.

Not a new Wheelie, a good Wheelie.

Don't forget that for the time, nickel was one of, if not, the most durable finishes available.  High end cars used nickel on shiny bits until WW II.  More durable than any other finish until "wonder" finishes started coming out in the 1980's-90's.  That is why stainless steel was such a big deal for guns.

Personally I think nickel ages beautifully.  Yes it changes, but it has a depth and luster that chrome and most other plated finishes just can't match.

I was just retelling what I was taught. In fact, if we wait long enough, I'm sure that the individual who taught me that will comment of this thread soon. Not to name any names  :neener .

Like anything, I'm sure if it is cared for, then it will be fine  :cool .

He sold you two of them? I just knew about the one 2 or 3 inch snubby.

Also bought a pencil barrel 5" one.   I like them both  :cool  Smooth, sweet little shooters.

Yes... but no.  I want another 5" model, but without the finish wear of that one.  As far as the snubbie... Nope.  I have since picked up one in excellent condition, for the same price I sold you that one.  :neener

IIRC, a well-done nickel-plating job will last forever (unless it gets badly scratched), but a poorly-done job can start wearing, flaking, and peeling badly if you so much as look at it funny.

Got a refund, but nowhere near enough to pay for a gun. Maybe I'll get some .45 ammo and/or mags for my P220.

Dang it, I will be on a business trip that day.    However I have been doing my part the past few weeks.  Sent the three FAL kits I've had sitting in the basement for the past 15 years off to Arizona Response to have them built.  Also ordered an Israeli FAL from DSA back in February to celebrate selling my old house and paying off the new one.

You might have some trouble finding those 220 mags.  With the ruling on Friday, Californians have bought damn near every magazine in the country this week.

I'm just buying a holster for the P228.

10 round and less seems to be available, but high capacity is just not to be found.  But hey, good for them.  It gives them a reprieve, even if temporary.  A chance for the under-40 crowd to have their own high-caps for the first time.  And if this gets reversed, I see a lot of 'boating accidents' happening.

I will not be buying any new guns on tax day.  I have actually been paring down the collection recently, getting rid of those I no longer like.  I have been wanting a steel J-frame lately, but there is no logical reason, so it will pass.

I'm slightly busy through the 15th.  As in working every day till 11pm+.

But I did already buy one.  Sold one too.  (Do I get credit for 2?)

However, it's an old one, so that doesn't really stimulate the manufacturers.

Oh, well.  Did what I could.

I should be taking delivery of one that I already paid for - my department just finished replacing our sidearms, and officers were allowed to buy theirs.

So I'll be owning a Glock (eh, functional, annoying grip angle) in .40 S&W (which I cleared out of years ago.)  :hmm

I will not be buying any guns or gun stuff this year, let alone this month.  I knew two new/newish trucks would be fun.  Part of the tax return is going in the bank to be payments ahead.  The rest is going towards getting the house more done.  I am tired of painted plywood floors.

If you are in the market for a new firearm, many manufacturers are offering rebates

It was a few days late for buy a gun day, but the first of the FAL kits I sent off to Arizona Response for building arrived today.  This one was an old Imbel kit I bought somewhere between 2002 and 2004.    Gunplumber did a good job,  looks like a brand new rifle.   I was surprised he got it back to me so quickly, I was expecting a couple more months due to his backlog.  Maybe he was able to get this one out a little earlier since I had already put the barrel on about 15 years ago before putting the project on the back burner. He did the headspace on it, completely refinished all the parts, assembled everything,  and function checked it.   I also sent the necessary US parts for 922r compliance along with the kit.  He sent the originals back in the box with it.

Turned out nice.  The build and refinish was a little pricey, but he is the best there is when it comes to FAL work, and I was just not ever getting around to finishing it on my own.   Figured it was worthwhile to just pay to have the expert build it and do it as nice as it could be.  Paying to get these things done was my "fun" purchase after selling the old house and paying off the mortgage on the new one back in February.  I'll be looking forward to getting the other Imbel and L1A1 kit back later.   I just wish I had been able to use an inch receiver on the L1A1, but those are somewhat hard to find and I had to go with a DSA type II metric instead.

I picked up my gun Thursday (it actually arrived at my FFL Monday, but Thursday was the earliest it worked, schedule-wise).

My department just replaced our pistols, so I bought my old one.  So now I have my first Glock 22, a lonely .40 to feed amongst the 9s and 45s.
