Wierd Error message
« on: August 12, 2015, 10:03:51 pm »
Hey all,
For some reason on my main computer I am getting a message saying that I am banned from the forum and to "Go Away Dan."

Now none of the other computers I use list me as being Banned here. I would love to find out how the error is happening as so far I like it here but I prefer to lurk.

and here is an Image of the message I keep getting.

Thanks whatever you did. I did clear out my computer's History but that message was weird and it frightened me. When I got it I was wondering "What did I say to offend them? followed by Did my account get hacked? Usually when you say something 'Inappropriate' on a forum you get an E-mail from one of the Moderators saying that you are too close to the line."

I have not seen that message myself, but I would like to know what exactly it was about.  It looked at least semi-official.  Was he banned accidentally?  Was WTA hacked?

One of the problems with dynamic IP addresses is that sometimes a valid person gets one that has been banned.  That's what happened in this case.

Okay, cool.  I just wanted to make sure we were not hacked, and if we were, that our passwords were safe.

I'm assuming Rockwolf's real name isn't Dan.  If it is, that would really be a freaky message to receive. :panic

I thought we had to enter our real names/a name on registering (I haven't checked and I don't remember) I figured that a script could be used to pull that name and insert it into the message.

I"ve noticed that the Keen Boots banner ad stops the page from loading. It's only that ad and it is consistant.

There's a certain knife maker by the first name of Dan who has some mental issues and when he goes off his meds he starts cyberstalking George and a few other folks. He's occasionally apologized for it, but that doesn't seem to stop him from doing it again.

Don't forget admitted drug user as well.
Which was a shame he went all Tin Roof because he actually made some nice knives... But the association disgusted me so the knives I had of his make, I got rid off.  Gave one away, threw one away and one - and one I left in a tree stump high in the Uintah Mountains.

Well the one I tossed was an OSS Lapel Dagger.
The one I gave away was a WWI style Trench Bowie... it was very nice.
The one I left in the stump was an Applegate style dagger.
It's just off Red Cloud Loop near where an old Gold Mine used to be, just past what was the holding pond.

IMerrel, are you in the market for an Applegate style dagger that's a bit of a fixer upper?  :neener

Do we forget that cops were primarily still using 6 Shot Revolvers well through the mid 80's? It wasn't until after 1986 that most departments then relented and went to autos.
Capacity wasn't really an issue then... and honestly really it's not even an issue now.
