Buttons work, keys don't
« on: September 30, 2012, 12:06:27 PM »
OK, this is weird, when I click on the back or forward button in Safari, it always works here in WTA.  If I use the buttons that do the same thing (or try to scroll up or down using buttons) sometimes it doesn't work until I click on the screen, then the keys work.

It has always been this way with this computer & software (MacBook Pro, Leopard op sys, Safari browser).

I was going to reply with a possible suggestion, but then re-read your question.  I don't have a Mac, don't know the OS, and don't use Safari.  Sorry.

I don't get to work with OS X as much as I like, but it sounds like a matter of the OS changing focus, for some reason.  There may be a setting for 'autofocus to mouse' or somesuch...

Sometimes the same thing happens on my PC. It won't scroll - buttons or mouse key - until I left-click on a blank spot on the screen. And I use IE8 and FireFox.
Thus far, it doesn't seem to be indicative of anything dire - so I've just learned to put up with it.

Ok, had to update the op sys to Snow Leopard so my wife's iPhone would download podcasts (don't ask).  And I think it included a newer version of Safari.  Anyways, the problem has gone away.

Now I have a new issue with a different forum....

If there's one thing that'll drive an IT person to drink, it's programming pretty web pages that perform well and identically in different browsers.  :banghead
