Concealed Carry Belt?
« on: November 25, 2012, 02:03:18 pm »
I searched already and I don't see a thread on this. I'm sure there are thread on other forums, but I like what I read here.

I am looking for a decent carry belt. 1 1/2 inch. It can be business casual-ish. I currently have a 5.11 belt. It is fine. I could get another. I just want to have options. I don't want to spend $100 on a belt, but I don't want one from the men's department at Wal-Mart either.

Recommendations?

Filson's has nice double thick belts that work really well, they are pricey unless you go to an outlet then you may be able to pick one up in the $30 range.

For something a better check out WTA's own Adam's Holsters, Luke make excellent gear, you can read the reviews on his own site or his section here in the forum.

Adams Holsters, one of our sponsors does Gun belts.  They're $75 but they're custom to you.  Plus, he stands behind his work.  Excellent stuff.

Those Adams Holsters belts look great.

Those Filson belts are really pricey for what you get (I have a lot of Filson stuff I love), but another option is Cabela's Double Duty Belt. It works great for me. Really stiff and supportive. Takes some breaking in, but I like the one I have.
On sale for $20 right now too!

I have a Wilderness Tactical Instructor's Belt that is awesome as well, but it's obviously less traditional looking.

Wow--the Adams Belt looks nice. The $75 is reasonable I'm sure, but on the high side of what I would really like to spend. The lead time is my other concern with that one.

The belt at Cabela's looks like a great deal. I will give this one a go I think. Hard to beat $20, especially since it's supposed to be more. Looks like they may be discontinuing or starting a new line. Size choices are limited. The bottom review cracked me up!! He said it was so stiff he considered using it as a cane. Too funny.

Thank you for the heads-up. I may end up going with an Adams at some point. For now... :hmm.

I've been wearing a Galco SB3 for over two years now, and it's served me well enough. Just now starting to think about replacing it.  Can be had for $65ish with no wait time.

The Beltman has very good leather belts. I have a 1 1/2" black leather with the plain chrome buckle.  It was the quick order for $80. I bought it based on recommendations at the Pistol Forum.

Old Faithful Holsters has a gun belt kit for $39.99. All you have to do is screw it together. You can stain it any finish you want, or leave it natural. 1 1/2" double thick.

If you go with that Cabelas belt, I sure hope you like it as much as I do mine. I picked mine off the rack in the Ft Worth store and , I tell you what, I think I could have used it as a cane too!

It's not the prettiest leather and the buckle is matte grey, but I wasn't looking for a dress belt. All the stitching on mine has held up really well, the 'tongue' or leather at the buckle has worn in nicely (it was a pain to put on or take off for quite a while!) and the rest is still pretty rigid. Also, the leather has held up really well where I clip on various holsters (scratches but no real wear).

I paid $40 for mine and it's worth every penny. At $20, wow. Again, I hope yours treats you as well as mine has!

I have been using my 5.11 Trainer belt for several years. It works great although it is not the dressiest belt.

Hey if you shoot me an email with your size I might have something around here in the shop I can sell you belt wise without the lead time. Usually if I've got something around it's because a customer orders a 39 and I get stupid and build a 41 or something along those lines;) I do my best not to have to rebuild gear but between Sarah and I mistakes are made, leaving perfectly good gear hanging in the shop waiting to go on the site or to the gun show. Now that said it's fairly infrequent that we've got stuff laying around but it never hurts to shoot me an email and check;) Sometimes they are up on the site as well, but usually I don't get them up before someone emails me and snatches up my little bit of in stock items I end up with.

So shoot me an email if I've got something in your size I can save you the lead time;)

    Take care!

    Luke

Oh and thanks guys for recommending me it's certainly appreciated!

I've been using an Adams belt for ... 2 years now? Still looks and works great. Money well spent.
