It was bound to happen...

...sooner or later:

 Details:

How long will this trend continue with traditional slug hunting states legalizing straight wall pistol caliber rifles for deer and bear hunting?

i like the concept of the ammo, but i do not see it feeding well in most shotguns and i am not impressed by the gel test 18 inches is not very impressive for a shotgun it also looked like the slug fragmented some and did not expand much if at all.
IllinoisThere’s a story about a turtle and a scorpion. Scorpion is stranded on a river bank. Turtle sees this and asks Scorpion to get on his back and he’ll take him across the river. Scorpion gets on Turtle’s back and they go into the river. When they’re about halfway across, Scorpion stings Turtle. As Turtle is sinking, knowing they’re both going to die, he asks Scorpion "Why did you sting me, we’re both going to die?" and Scorpion says "It’s not my fault; it’s what I am."

#1, Clear gel is not a viable product to simulate tissue. Especially with rifle type velocities/energies.
#2, What mission does this fulfill,  that is previously unfulfilled by other products?

Probably nothing but TarHunt was an early entry into the field of more accurate shotguns and slugs - especially for the eastern states that restricted big game hunting to shotguns loaded with slugs only.  This is just a natural evolution of their earlier product line(s) and appears to be marketed to hunters that don't want to go buy a new rifle.  Many of the eastern states have now begun to legalize rifles chambered for straight-walled pistol cartridges for big game hunts but a lot of hunters either can't or won't shell out hundreds of dollars for a new rifle/scope/ammo combination when the old shotgun is still effective.  Admittedly, it is a niche product but if it fills a need - real or imagined - it is legitimate IMO.

If it would feed and extract in a regular 20 gauge shotgun, it looks like an excellent home defense round.

Except it won't work in a shotgun anyone has unless it's a special one...

It's a niche product within a niche. And it's expensive.
