Define best. I'm not being sarcastic or difficult here. Remington 36gr HP Golden Bullets group very well in my Savage MkII, but cause constant jams in my Buckmark. Winchester copper plated 36gr in the 555 pack run excellently in my Buckmark, but group poorly in the Savage. Groups with the Remingtons are less than half the size of groups with the Winchesters (.75 inch vs 2 inch). Federals seem to jam like the Remingtons while being about as accurate as the Winchesters.

I would definitely stay away from the Remingtons if you are running a semiauto. The rounds are not very well seated in the case and will bend while feeding. That has never been a problem with my Savage thanks to the bolt action, but jams with the Buckmark tended to average once per magazine.

I like Federal.  I've heard bad things about Remington.

Yes. Federal bulk Automatch is more than cheap enough, clean enough and accurate enough for most any situations. Federal Gold Medal Match is more than accurate enough to get you through the Appleseed.

Standard Federal bulk in the blue boxes is a consistent headache in my hunter ed classes.  Too weak, many a stovepipe in a semi-auto due to short stroking.

Best all around?  If you can find CCI in bulk at a decent price, snap it up.  Short of that, as far as cheap ammo is concerned the Winchester lead nosed Wildcats have, IME, been proven very reliable and decently accurate, even if a little smoky.

CCI Blazer is fine for me.  But I did have exactly 1 squib out of 1000+ rounds of the stuff that I've shot so far.

I'm glad I heard the squib.  My guess was that it was only primed sans powder.  A little eye opening for sure; also, a reminder to stay vigilant when shooting.

I've had 2 Remington bulk pack rounds detonate on me.

I'm 100% federal for anything semi - auto.

Everyone has had good/bad experiances with everything, depending on the gun and batch of ammo  ;D

I hate the American Eagle .22 because it won't function a 10-22 easily.

Remington Golden bullets have bee decently reliable, but not the best accuracy.

Bulk Federal blue box have been okay, but had a fwe batches with bad primers.

CCI Blazer was some of the worst shooting ammo I've ever tried, bad enough in 3 differant batches I ain't even trying it.

And seriously: You can't find winchester around here.

I have tried BVAC bulk ammo, a wee bit more expensive than federal.rem,etc. but has seemed a tiny bit more reliable and accurate.

Bulk .22 LR can be maddeningly inconsistent.  Federal usually gets high marks from many but I had a couple of bulk packs of Federal that was the most horrific crap I've ever tried to shoot.  Dud rate was astronomical.  Squibs.  Jammed everything they were put in.  Couldn't get through one 10 round mag without a misfire.

The last good bulk pack stuff I got last was Winchester HP.  It was as cheap as Remington Thunderbolt and it performed fine.  Next time who knows.

If you find some good stuff run back to the store and buy up a bunch.  Just check lot or batch numbers to make sure it's all the same batch.

I went through a brick of remington thunderbolt.  On occasion the bolt was just a tad harder to close.  As best as I can determine it was just lead bullets on the edge of allowable size.  However there were no squibs or duds in the entire brick.

I picked up a couple of federal's 525 bulk packs, i'll see how they do

In the big box type, I like the Wichester 555 for reliability and Remington for accuracy. My favorite is the CCI standard velocity. It comes in 50-100 round boxes normally, but I buy it by the case.

The best overall IME, but never found in bulk AFAIK is the CCI Velocitor.  I had results similar to this http://milesfortis.us/mcump/mc09.htm a few years back when all I took was every kind of 22 ammo I could get my hands on and a dozen or so different 22 firearms out for a day of testing.

The velocitor round was one of my top 3 picks in every firearm tested in both accuracy and ballistics departments.  Consistent chrono numbers, and accuracy out of nearly every firearm I tried was on par with the above link.

Hard to go wrong with CCI - but I've had good luck with Federal Champions, and then the next step up is the Winchester Power Points - not exactly "bulk" ammo, but cheap enough to shoot in volume, and hollow point. Not like the RWS subsonic one of my rifles love - that stuff is expensive - for .22LR.

Another vote for Federal Automatch here.  Comes in packs of 325.  Nice clean reliable ammo.

This is the only place that I have found Velocitor in bulk.

I like both Remington Golden and Federal Bulk.  Similar to others experiences, some of my guns like the Remington and some like the Federal.

The Federal has the edge in accuracy but the Remington is hotter.

CCI Velocitors rock but unfortunately are not available in bulk.

Federal Champion Target AutoMatch Solid 40 Grain
Thats been my favorite so far. It has been the cleanest .22lr I have shot, and have had no issues with it at all.  Comes in 325rd packs for about $14.

I think the better question is what .22 bulk ammo sucks the least. To me, that would be Federal. I am at the point now that I have pretty much given up on bulk pack ammo. I just stock up on CCI mini-mags when I find them on sale. For standard velocity stuff there was a time years ago that I ordered RWS ammo by the case. Great stuff, almost as good as Eley but much more affordable. No reason to run that stuff through the 10/22 when taking my son shooting, CCI works great for that.

+1 in the CCI standard velocity.  In my experience it is wonderfully accurate and reliable.

I've also gotten good results with the Winchester 333/555 ammo and Federal American Eagle.

My experiences with CCI blazer has been pretty good, but I have seen some people have issues.  Some guns seem to just not like it.

Thunderbolts are for my bolt guns only.

I agree. This ammo has been reliable and accurate in my 10/22
