Title: M1, M14 Trigger Jobs

When you posted that on your blog, I meant to ask if that applied to M-14/M1As too, but I forgot. Judging by the thread title, I'm guessing it does. Just want to clarify before I do something I regret.

Yeah it still works. The only real difference between the M1 and M14 triggers is the fact that the M14 is shorter. The basics are all still the same.

I'm kind of jonesing on the SOCOM version. Being that short it will probably beat the op rod up pretty badly. That's what happened to the M1 tanker model. Doesn't take long before you have to fit a new one. Oh, well they still look cool.

They do look cool. If somebody were to make it reliable and durable somehow...

I agree but what a cool gun. I'll still stick to a full length at the end of the day. The gun as a whole is just too awesome not to have one...or 5.

It's taken about 40 years of development and tweaking to get the AR to run right. Let's just buckle up and see if we can get a short M1A to run. I've only personally seen issues with the magazines in the M1A SOCOMs. And I've had several through my Carbine Courses. I think they are awesome. But one thing they are not, precision rifles. If you can live with a 3" group at 100 yards, you can live with a SOCOM. I just want it more consistent... make it a 1" group and I'm in. Unfortunately, I've not seen one do a 1" group.

My concern is more premature wear and increased failure rate vs. consistent operation.

I'm on board with that. One question though. How many projects can we get going at one time? :devillol I actually have a couple ways to go about that one. Then we work on a bedding block and float the barrel. The biggest problem the SOCOM has is the recoil is more violent than usual because of the shorter barrel. Shorten the gas system and op rod and you get a softer muzzle flip.
