That is all.   ;)


This thing is actually built, except for the part where I don't have a castle nut wrench to torque on the receiver extension (and to stake the endplate).  Other than that, the lower is done.

*I still need to get a CA neutering device, which I really don't want to but I have to get if I want to actually go out and shoot it legally.

It's hard to find quality AKs at good prices.  Because I specifically wanted an SGL-21 (still do), but the prices/availability locally are a crap-shoot.

I can find quality AR parts all over the place with minimal effort.  In the battle of logistics, Stoner's rifle won.

BB removes that.  Also, this STR stock is giving me a better LOP than an A2 stock.  And the cheekweld is more comfy; almost feels like a pillow top mattress on the cheek.

Hey FMJ, I am building an AR in California as well.  What BB are you going with?  I've heard of one that can be converted to normal use with an allen wrench or small flathead.  Thoughts?

That would be the Radlock with is like 35-40 bucks.  People like them.


I don't care that much, so I ordered the most standard one.  Besides, I have the normal mag catch button so it's just a matter of switching out when going to Free America.

Yes, all that stuff.


Unless someone runs a featureless rifles (as in lacking of evil features) so they can drop their legally owned 30 round mags freely, BB'd rifles in CA look just like AR-15 rifles anywhere else in the country.

I also have a couple of disassembled 30P-mags ready to go.  They're legal to keep in that state in CA.

You cannot put a 30 rounder (legally grandfathered or otherwise) in any BB AR rifle.   That means you're creating an assault weapon (whatever the hell that means).

IMO, if you have an FAL/AK, go featureless.  A muzzle brake/comp is kosher, only flash hiders are haram.

I'm convinced that this STR/ACS/etc style "comb" and stock could be better than A-2 stocks.  After getting a feel for this, I don't want to deal with standard crappy carbine stocks again.

Buying a complete Bravo Co.  Can't decide whether I want 16" mid-length (original plan) or a 20" rifle to run it C7A2 style.

I've actually got a 20" BCM upper here next to me that I'm holding for a friend, so I'll check it out and hopefully try it out.

The 16" and the 20" cost the same, but the plan is 16" middy...

Here are the materials I have been borrowing in order to better learn the AR system(s).  The one on the top is the 20" Bravo that belongs to a friend.  Note the lack of any mag release on my lower.  M&P sport upper belongs to same friend and will be sold off to help ease the cost of the brand new BCM.




If this were my room 4 years ago, I'd have passed out from firearm sensory overload.


*The "C7A2" clone seen here will soon have an A2 stock and a KAC RAS M5, a-la M-16A4.
