full auto, drum fed .22
« on: January 14, 2010, 08:28:16 PM »
.22s are the world's favorite shootin' iron, by far.
Who wouldn't want a drum fed, full auto .22?
The American 180 was once issued to Utah prison guards.
Very cool.
Here's the link to the entire article, lots more pictures and the history of this unusual gun.
(But don't blame me if cyber monsters slither through your broadband connection and eat your dogs and kids).
Oh, go on. Live a little dangerously.

Now that is a cool article.  Full auto anything is awesome.  The fact that you would be able to afford to shoot this one without breaking the bank is even better.

Imagine P-dog hunting with this.   ;D

I had to go looking. I seem to remember when these came out in the cobwebs of mind:

And LOOK! I found one for sale:

You know what's also cool? The Lakeside Machine belt fed .22 uppers for the AR-15- uses cloth belts and/or plastic links. Lakeside machine also either made or still makes other belt fed weapons, but the .22 upper is the only thing that really interests me (primarily because if you can get your paws on a FA M-16 lower or a DIAS you then have a full auto .22 and full auto for any other FA capable upper you put on the lower)

I don't THINK I'll ever have to face down routers in the streets.

I should hope not. Mobs of rogue woodworking tools would suck to repel.

Was the .22LR Calico ever made in a full auto version?

There is a Yugoslav version:

The gun is still being made, both in full auto for law enforcement only, and semi auto for $1,000 from:

Really, really want the drum adapter for the 10/22.

Tech Branch won't make a decision about the Mac-AM180 upper either.

I'd really like to be able to do 270 round drum dumps without coughing up the money for an AM180...
