Odd...on the "Contact Us" page at http://www.apfarmory.com/contact-us/ it says:

We are not affiliated with Alexandria Pro-Fab in any way!

Just like that, in big red type.

You really have to dig into the term "affiliated".  Usually that term means owned by or subsidiary of.  They can do business with each other and pay each other referral fees and still remain unaffiliated.

    So...Better late than never.

Also, for new orders for people who have voted, MAKEAMERICABUILDAGAIN will give you a 13.5% discount.

Normally I don't go so far in pimping these promos, but I know the OP ordered in the magic window and 13.5% is a happy meal.

So I found this thread on arf.com on the Alexandria/Alex Pro lowers and uppers: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_121/691518_Alexandria_PRO_FAB__APF__308_AR_mini_review.html&page=1

I couldn't really tell if the Alexandria uppers from AIM had a tendency to be iffy in the accuracy department, or if they're just finicky about ammo.

Did locate this complete upper,  which might be a good middle ground between the Alexandria from AIM at $470 and the Hunter upper from Alex Pro at $1000.

I bought an AR-15 upper from CBC during the 4th of July sale.  It seems good,  but be aware that you will probably be waiting a month to get anything from them,  and they are a little spotty on their communication.  Mine took nearly 3 weeks, and I had to call them multiple times.  There were a couple of times where I talked to someone and they said someone would call me back and that never happened.   I think they grew a little too fast and are having some issues due to that.   I've read on their facebook that they have hired more people and are working to get things running more smoothly.   I'm going to hold off on ordering anything else from them until they get settled down.  Especially since they have an annoying tendency to charge your credit card when the order is placed instead of when it actually ships.

Whatever you go with, make sure your upper and lower will fit together.  That's always a concern with AR-10's since they aren't totally standardized.

If I do mine as I will,it will be from Anderson with the new style they have thats impregnated with RF85 so there is no need for oiling.1st thing is to fire 200 rounds thru it then claen with dish soap and water only, dry the parts, assemble and ready for 5000 rounds before due another cleaning. The next cleaning can be done easily as just toss in the creek water and shake it to drop the excess water, clip it with 10 rounds and  fire rapid to dry and clean the rest of the way..Thats all it is to them..

I wasn't aware that Anderson was making AR-10 parts now.  That's good to hear,  should help keep prices low.   I like their AR-15 lowers.

They offer an AM-10 kit, which is a complete, unassembled rifle kit, for $950.

You can buy the same gun assembled through one of their dealers.  Going prices seem to be around $1250 - $1300.

To my knowledge you can't buy just their lower.  I don't know about parts compatibility.

Maybe they will start offering lowers once they move to wider production.   I think they might have done that with the AR-15 stuff.  Now they are cranking out good $50 lowers by the truckload.    :clap

If they are proper DPMS pattern compatible 308 lowers that would be fabulous.  Cause heaven knows I need more lowers in my safe  ;)

Every time I see one of these threads I pick up the hunk of aluminum on my desk and just wish I knew where to start.  :facepalm

How long is the mag well on these lowers? How long is the ejection port? The guy who gave me the project said it was for .30-06 and I didn't believe him at first, but am thinking he may have been right.

Yeah when you showed the picture it definitely looks longer than a standard .308 AR-10 lower.

But the pins and trigger should still fit right? Most of a lower kit would be pretty close I would think.

Things I would expect to be different:

    Upper receiver
    Bolt Carrier

I would order up a budget LR-308 lower build kit and give it a go.

If you wanna post up some dimensions I can compare to my 308 lowers and comment.  I would be interested in the distance between the pivot pin hole and the hammer pin hole, and the distance between the pivot pin hole and rear of the receiver.

This https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/dpms-ar-10-308-lower-receiver-parts-kit-lpk-884451000761.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=fn was the cheapest AR10/ AR308 lower kit I could find

I just happen to have a set of calipers and my Hunk of Aluminum right here. If you would identify which holes are which (I am slightly embarrassed to admit my deficiency here) I can have those for you.

Using this drawing as a reference:

The pivot pin hole would be the first hole top left.  The hammer pin hole is referenced in this drawing as 4.19 from the pivot pin hole, or the fourth hole from the right.

    Perfect. Thanks for your help.

That is 119mm as measured by my cheap calipers, Google translates that as 4.68504 inches

The mag well length is 88mm / 3.46457 inches width is 31mm / 1.22047 Inches

While looking at it the rear takedown pin detent is not near the buffer/stock area, it comes up from the handle area.

Adskii, have you posted a pic of the bolt you "inherited" anywhere?  I'm having worried thoughts regarding your bolt carrier group length, but I am a not a gunsmith, nor do I play one on TV.

For the rest of the holes, the one indexed at 5.03" is your trigger pin, and 6.16" is your safety pivot.  The hole diagonally up and to the left of the hammer pin is the bolt release.

This is standard for the "Big Boy" AR lowers.

Based on Booksmart's comments, you also have a bolt carrier group?  If so, the only question I have left if the buffer tube/spring/buffer combo needed.  The rest of the parts should be standard AR-10.  Of course, you will have to have a custom barrel made.

No bolt. Just the upper and lower. :(

I'm still trying to get info on what pattern was used, but the builder was an acquaintance of a friend, who is no longer in communication with him.

Darn. I was hoping it would help narrow which pattern it might have been.

Order a DPMS 308 barrel nut:

    http://www.primaryarms.com/troy-trx-barrel-nut-308-dpms-strx-308-d0bt-00

If if fits, you have DPMS, and you have a barrel nut for it.  If not, PM me and I will buy the barrel nut from you as I will use it sooner or later.

It is enough of an oddball, that I would probably just send it to Gundoc to figure out.

I took your advice and sent Gundoc pictures (we agreed that was a good place to start) he said it is an Armalite AR10 pattern, but lengthened most likely for the .30-06.

Still no bolt, nor positive ID on which magazines the guy who machined it was planning on using.

The good news is when I explained that it was the most expensive of all the AR pattern rifles (to my knowledge as much as twice as much as a cheap AR15) she agreed I should just start with something easier to find parts for. I'll save this one for when I have some experience.
